All right there are three main types of lag that you can experience in Pawn right now.
The first is Ad lag. This does not lag the server, however it does lag your computer screen, which will make others seem fast at times to you. My suggestion to help avoid this problem is to continue to refresh the screen until you come upo two ads with little to no movement, this will help a lot in reducing ad lag. The second is server lag. Now the thing with server lag, is that there are multiple things that add to this problem, so I'm going to list out for you some of what that is. In order to understand how all of these things affect your game play, you first must understand that you connect to the server, everyone connects to the same server, and so anything that lags the server, lags everyone. 1) Chat spam- this causes a lot of interaction between the server and the user spamming, causing the server to seem to slow down for you. 2) Channel Spam- this occurs when someone enters and exits a game or chat room rapidly. Once again, this causes a large amount of interaction with the user and the server, which causes lag. 3) Too many users- When there is an abundant amount of users playing pawn, the server is interacting with every single user in every thing they do, so it will make things move slower. This is why stick arena has multiple servers for players to play on. 4) In-game lag- this occurs when there is an abundance of spawn point or artifacts, or when certain guns are used abundantly. This causes pawn to move very slow for you, while other users not in the room do not experience the lag. The final type of lag is what I term "you" lag. this happens if your computer is old, your connection is crappy, or if you need to clean out the spyware and viruses on your computer. There's a few easy ways to avoid this, look for that in my next edition, I'm headed out now. That about sums it up, when I figure out what else has the possibility to cause lag, I will let you all find out. Hopefully this will answer some of your questions. I'll edit this post with some tips and tricks on how to avoid lag when I have time. Last edited by sY; 05-04-2007 at 12:34 AM.. |
