Ladder gmaes?

HEy its me agian the massive noob!:p just wondering but i keep hering ppl talking about ladder games and some other thing that starts with a c?
what r they what do thay do? is it like TD & A (team deathmach and assalt?:confused: sorry games is spelled wrong i type to fast and dont check over...

Team Deathmatch: Red vs Blue. Kill the members of the other team. You can't hit your own team. Get the specified number of kills and your team wins.
Assault: Red vs Blue again, but one team is trying to defend 'the artifact' and the other team is trying to destroy it. Its kinda like capture the flag, but one only one team has the flag.
Ladder: Official ranked game. Not many options you can customize when creating a ladder game, but your score counts toward your world rank score.
Custom: More options, custom maps, but your score doesn't count.
