I wish to know your definitions of "normal".
No dictionary direct quotes.
I'm curios as opinions differ greatly about what the true meaning of this is.

useless thread and a bad example for a pa but I think normal means you don't do things out of the ordinary, socialable, not too smart, not too stupid.
That is my def. of normal.

Please, useless?
Bad example from a PA?
Debates are not useless, and not one like this, as the correct definition is not truly known, same as religion in a way, you merely debate what you think it is.
Use your mind.
And nothing out of the ordinary, ordinary and normal are synonyms, DEFINE NORMAL.
Not to smart and not to stupid is a very good description, BUT NOT A DEFINITION.

Get over it.
I have no definition of normal, I think you cannot define normal, as no one person acts the same as everyone else, and everyone has their own habits and thoughts.
Normal does not exist.
Not in my opinion, unless you count sheep who believe being "normal" ensures popularity.

It's human nature to be curious.
Not knowing what a word they use near daily really means is enough to post about.
If someone calls me abnormal, I'll say thanks, that means I'm not a pathetic follower, I'm more of a leader.
Seriously...?
Normal is a word.
Dictionary defines words.
Dictionary defines the word "normal", and in a very bad way.

hmm you made a good point, being abnormal can mean a lot of things to tell you the truth, could mean retarded, being a follower has nothing to do with being normal
and you are following others that are abnormal then to.
Well it is def. And like you said noone knows the true meaning of normal

Being a follower, a sheep, means you follow what everyone tells you to follow.
"Normal" is doing what people expect of you(In most cases.).
As in, following.

My definition of "normal" would probably have to be whatever the majority is, unless it's strange in some reason. What I mean, is a normal person might be someone who goes to a school where people lead lives with social activity and behave acceptably. What I mean by "strange" is like if someone went to a school with all gothic or emo people, but they were say a jock, or a computer nerd (like us pawn gamers xD). They might not be considered normal at their school.

The meaning of normal is to be or act with eccentric behaviours or out of sync with the current enviroment around you, which does not include cultural traditions being practiced in another country.
And I do agree with what you've said of normal being for the masses.
"Well-behaved women seldom make history."

For me a normal is like a balanced act. He does "Good" things, and he does "Bad" things.
It's also like a free spirit,he can do what he wants "Normally".

Then would the be your definition of normal?
That's the fun thing about that word, it can change place to place drastically.

Hm, interesting, but if it was OUT of sync with the environment, wouldn't that make it abnormal?
For me a normal is like a balanced act. He does "Good" things, and he does "Bad" things.
It's also like a free spirit,he can do what he wants "Normally".
I like your point, in my town, in example, if someone was all goodness, he would be abnormal, and all bad crap he would be abnormal to.
I like that definition.

By what means are you thinking? Give me an example and I may further relay the meaning of my definition more.
If it's out of sync with the enviroment around that current person it can be defined as abnormal by the original inhabitants, but deemed normal by that person who is being "abnormal" in the others' 'normal' view.
Now this is all a matter of perspective.
This should get Interesting...

Out of sync with current environment, so if I went and head banged to Slayer at a hippie convention, I'd be acting out of sync with my environment, so that would be normal?

That depends, is it normal in your view AND the hippie's view? The variation of normal are often disagreed upon by mere perspective.
It would not be in the hippies' view.
So yes it would be abnormal.

See, it could be both normal and abnormal at same time.
The word normal is a paradox D:
Normal is when u dont jump around yelling "I got credits"
What if everyone does that?
Then would it be normal, because everyone does that?

Normal means to be similar to the majority.

Normal isn't a paradox. Like almost every idea, it is just of opinion and view of multiple factions.

normal,nothing new.
sentence that go with it:
The sig is normal,useal,nothing new..
And if the majority is emo or goth?
Then would the be your definition of normal?
If the majority was then it would be normal.

Normal can't really be defined, for me, at least. I believe normal means when everyone in the world is the same. And that can never happen.

I define "normal" as a function in your life that doesnt create unessesary interference with other functions in your life
IF:
"oh i started sports so that means i cant go to violin lessons on tuesdays"--OK
"i like to play video games alot and i miss most of my things and chores because of it"--WRONG
