Render is LQ and I'm sure you realised that...
BG is chaotic
I recommend using Normal C4Ds as a BG and then use Fractals to add effects...
When you insert normal C4Ds, smudge most of it (not all!) to make the bg, then duplicate the layer and add a filter of your choice. Filters > Edge-Detect > Edge (Laplace Algorithm, Strength 5. Then set the Layer to Soft Glow and mess with the Opacity setting)

renders LQ
c4d's poorly excuted
for the resizing if u get ur renders from like PlanetRenders
then just simply use the scale tool, chain the with an length together a scale it down
then if its still a little blurry go to filter>Enhance>Sharpen
an adjust it where it needs to be
for c4d's i would say try using the options in your dock
and try experimenting with the options like:
screen
burn
dodge
gain merge
exract
ect........
till u find one u like

use one of those endless functions on the c4d on top of the render
like try to make it merge.
