View Full Version : The easiest style to start learning?
I have PS CS3 and I want to make avatars and userbars, and sigs for friends that don't have PS.
I tried grunge, and always got the look wrong, especially text.
I tried smudging and lighting effects only(No clue what name is) and still sucked.
So I was wondering what type of styles did you guys learn first?

Shut the **** up your god damn troll.
You have no idea what the hell you are talking about.
Hamo doesn't even do graphics!
I hope you kill yourself.
@Evon
The easiest style IMO to start with is Abstract.
I started with it.

There was no point in posting what you have said at all. Basically spam.
Also I would help you but I do not use PS I use GIMP :/

You summed it up nicely about him, :P.
And thanks, I'll google some abstract tuts now :D

You spammed worse than he did.
He gave a hint about who to ask, and all you did was flame him and say you can't help.
Yet you're doing the same thing, he also gave false information on who to get help from because neither of them do GFX.
Always fun to experiment around with your images =].
I learned a bit of everything at first as I played around with it, so I suggest you do that. Be familiar with your tools by using them in different ways, one would say to an artist. The same concept applies here.
And PawnGameHelper, I'm going to strongly advise that you delete your post, no spam is needed in these forums.

Please, stay on topic.
I would figure a PA would know to take this to PMs, since that post was COMPLETELY off topic, as is this one, now, take it to PMs if you have anything else spam-wise to talk to me about.
My post had something on topic, when I was talking to CP, yours, however; have not once been anything but spam.
Anyone else think abstract is good to start?
It looks nice when you get into intermediate sigs, so I think I'll try that and focus on text and lighting effects because those are my major weak points.
Does anyone think that abstract grunge would be a good starter to?
EDIT: Toph, yeah I'm trying out all the tools, especially pentool.
Pentool is fun to experiment with.

usually most ppl make their avi's to match their sig..like me :D
and luka and splitz and blacknight...
i usually just make a new 100x100 layer and do a copy paste..
if my sig doesnt have any text than i just add some and make it look cool..

Dude, your style is up to you. It's all a personal preference. For me it's hellishly easy to use a fractal/grungish style, but that's just me. Everybody else makes sigs differently, they all have different styles. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. This is why I love GFX, there is so many different things you can do. But, if you want to learn GFX, don't EVER go to NSL. They're freaking art nazis.
Avatars are easier to make because all you have to do is make an attractive BG, a focal, and text like a sig, but you don't have to work as hard, you just need to think small.
just make tags. dont worry about what style till you under stand things and how they work.

You...make sense all of a sudden!

K, seems to be the dominant answer, I'll make a bunch of tags with different't styles and see which one I seem to like best, and which ones I can do better at.

Everyone develops their own style.
Just mess around and be creative.

to add on, brushes are your best friend
for a while...
then you use c4ds and such to make your tags secks, not brushes ;D

Ahh yes... memories of custom brushes....
Just collect some very good custom brush sets, and the best C4Ds you can find.
Then get yourself some stocks and brush over em, add a C4D here n there, and you'll find your style within yourself, and in the way you find techniques to use.

Vector for sure.
But no really? Just open up a canvas and scribble what you want over it lol. The more you do that, the more appealing your scribbling is. Right now you have no style, if there was a name, it would just be called beginner style.

Try digipainting or Pen tooling, those are easy.

Look, download a pile of brushes, find a couple(About 20) or so good c4ds, and you should be ready to start following tuts. Continue following tuts until you have a good understanding on three things.
1) Flow.
2) Design.
3) Styles.
Once you know different basic styles(Vector, pentooling, grunge, etc) and mastered them, mix and match a few of them together, and make your own style. If you have no idea what flow is, you shouldn't start making your own style.
