I'm thinking of making an animated .gif for my display picture.
I thought I'd ask some questions before I start making it.

I think the maximum width and height for avatars is 100 by 100 pixels.
But how large can the file be?

I think I found it somewhere, but was recently updated to a larger size.
Oh and also, I've noticed sometimes animated avatars don't move in user profiles.
Why is this?

It would great to get this information!

Well, I know it can be 100px because my avatar is 100 pixels high.
I'm pretty sure .avi files wouldn't work, try .gif file Ifreak.

Thanks for the info kuruvayegomach, where did you find this?

With the non-animating problem -
I was thinking it might have something to do with pawngame's automatic cropping.
But I saw a picture which is cropped in user profile, yet still animated.

You can find it at:

User CP=> Edit profile Picture => and just below Option 2 it says "Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 64.0 KB (whichever is smaller)."

.avi files aren't pictures, they're movies. That's the most-suck format though.

.gif is what you want. However, the 64.0kb limit really bites; it limits the length of your animation.

Ahh, sorry. I misread ifreak's post..
I thought he meant avi, as in .avi (what fweem said),
but I see now he meant avi as in avatar..

OK, I'll start making my animation, thanks again!
