it means "miliseconds" based on the processing of the object being played or loaded, a high MS means its taking more time in miliseconds to prosses it

It also depends on the other person's ms too. If you both have 250 ms, it will take half a second to see what the other person did, because it has to go from yor client to the server(250ms) then from the serfver to their client(250ms), making a total of 500ms of lag.
