View Full Version : War in Iraq
I know that this may be pretty touchy but why do they want our troops back so much this is just like what happened in Vietnam. People are protesting and rioting until they gut back and when the finally do they are spit upon by the reason they were over there in the first place. And i know that many of them are dead but think about it. In WW2 there were more casualties in one battle than in 4 years in Iraq now. So back to my question why do they need back now?

did you think about the families who lost some people in Iraq? Imagine... if you have a close friend right there right now, and hes being killed, wouldnt you like them to back up?
And if they back up now... think about the talibans taking over the government again. Think if they assault America again.

As soon as we pull out, we will be at war again because 25 minutes later we would have 35 attempted bombings by the same people were fighting now.
Durrrrr.

I support the war. :O
I think that the war has such a negative view because the media (left wing media like the NewYork Times, CNN, NBC, etc.) only report the negatives, and it seems like none of the positives. If a Democrat had taken us to war, the media would be heralding him as a mastermind.
If I ask people on this thread to name some of the progress, or achievements being made, I doubt they could come up with 3.

Well let's say your mom or dad went to Iraq and you have no clue whats going on, and this war is getting old look how long Vietnam lasted were not trying to go through that again. If I had a very close family member I would want them home ASAP. Also don't forget about Afghanistan were still in war with them. I wish the United Nations could of solve this problem years ago.

i think they should slowly start coming back over here. but for some reason the i thing i think about is the lives of the innocents lost with 9/11 and that i keep thinking to drop an atomic bomb or something to let them know how we can play there games too.

America used to have a much bigger army, but it shrank for some reason.
So people are going back 2, 3, 4, even 5 times, and they're gone for about 6 months at a time, sometimes longer.
I know it's for a good cause, but it's wrong to send the same people to the same war so many times. They have to risk their lives time and time again :/

Everyone in Iraq/Afghanistan knew where they were going. There is no draft in place, so every soldier bearing the American flag is there on their own accord.
We took out a dictator who gassed his own people. Whether that was the real reason or not, i don't care. Those soldiers who were killed, died for freedom. If not their own, than someone else.
To end the war and leave Iraq as is, is ridiculous. But then again, when Osama takes power, who cares about their sacrifice... Its all about being popular with the people, right?

It's good that we are trying to help them but the down part is all the families who are losing their loved ones.:(

We can make an influence in the middle east, we did it to the Japanese in WWII and look at them. But in the middle east its gonna be harder, with the radicalism and the stuff. If we pull out theyre gonna be right after us, theyre like flies...You hit as much as you want they still come back (OMG Metaphor!) I have a close freind in the marines and I personaly think hes going to Iraq if this lasts as long as Vietnam. Ive had relatives in Vietnam to (Duh) and they support the war in Iraq. Bottomline I think itll last as long as it need to....

yeah but, usually when we really bomb the crap out of sombody such as Japan we have a habit of helping them. And plus this war would and been over a long time ago if the (pardon what i'm a bout to say) damn left wing liberals would stop negotiating and fight for why we are over there in the first place!

Hmm. I seem to have a very different view from many of you. Now, let me just say this. I am Muslim, and have no anti-western beliefs whatsoever. I live in the U.S and while I hate Bush and his goons, so does everyone else, nuthin special there.

Wtf are you talking about cervantes? Militant Islamics are a minority, its not like all of Syria, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey all hate America's guts. The Taliban is a tiny group of people compared to the number of muslims and middle-easterns, most of which are glad Saddam's gone and Bin Laden's on the run. They just want peace and a chance to rebuild, so why the heck do you want to murder so many more of them for a pointless reason that was why some people dont like the U.S. anyway? Second off, America has killed over 100,000 Iraqi civilians and many more have little or no safe drinking water, food or electricity. Compare that to 3,000 Americans dead in 9/11, what's the real tragedy?

I disagree VietnamNut. Most of those suicide bombers and what not just seem to want the U.S gone to me. If we leave I doubt they'll bother chasing that much, they have too much to repair.

Ive notice that the real radicals arent exactly targeting the americans, its civil war in the middle east right now, between shias and sunnis, and the americans are in the middle of it. Sure there are terrorist groups that should be stop but most are in Afghanistan, not Iraq although some are in Iraq. Those are the ones we ought to be worried about. Its almost as if the Iraqis want America out of there, and I agree completely. There would probably be another attack but from the terrorist. Osama bin laden is one hard guy to catch. If we take him out the terrorist group probably collapse due to the unorganization, and I hope that either presidential candidate can catch that rat...
