Just some interesting facts about the universe:

1 light second is the distance measured by the speed off light in one second. it is equal to around 299,792km/second or roughly 180,000 miles/second

remember: lightyear is a distance not time.

1 light year (1Ly) is equal to 299,792km x 60(seconds) x 60(minutes) x 24(hours) x 365(days)

= 9,454,240,512,000km/year ( 9trillion, 454million, 215thousandkm )

Now 1 parsec is equal to around 3.3 Lyr's or around 30,000,000,000,000 or ( 30trillionkm)

My definition: It is the distance from the sun at which two imaginary lines, one projected from the Earth and one projected from the sun at a right angled triangle to a third connecting the Earth and the sun - intersect in space at an angle of 1 arcsecond.

Apart from the sun the closest star is proxima Centaui with a paralax of 0.77233 arcseconds. it is thus 1.295 parsecs, or 4.225 Lyr's.

Our closest galaxy, Andromeda is 0.77 Megaparsecs.

1 parsec = 30, trillion km.
1 Mega parsec = 1,000,000,parsecs.

Or...

30,000,000,000,000 x 1,000,000,(big big number)

Now that puts andromeda at 770,000,-ish parsecs away.

Now, one of the biggest numbers used today is astronomy, science and astronomistry is a gigaparsec.

1parsec= 30,000,000,000,000
1megaparsec= 30,000,000,000,000 x 1,000,000
1gigaparsec= 30,000,000,000,000 x 1,000,000 x 1,000

Now 1GP is approx. 0.89% of the universe....but theres more to this.

The universe is belived to have a beginning before the big bang. But i dont know anything about that pre-existing place. But i can tell you this:

The bing bang wasnt an explosion. it was an expansion. Atoms collided with each other and then began to expand with chemical bonding. But why does the universe keep expanding faster and faster?

Each galaxy is said to have a certain amount of gravitational pull, and each galaxy is moving further and further away from each other at speeds that cant be reached under any circumstance. But with this new compound known as dark matter/dark enegery, as the galaxies seperate further and further the gravity becomes less. Dark matter than comes into place and the universe expandsa more and more rapidly.

Blackholes/Supermassive blackholes. Blockholes occur in the center of each galaxy. It has so much mass in so little volume that the gravitational force is even too strong for light to escape (hence the name "black" hole) giving the appearance of total blackness.

When a star is sucked into a black hole from the other side of the universe and it explodes, some of the gas from the star is released at a very high temp. (up in the billions of degrees) and if you were looking at the right spot at the right time with a pair of binoculars you would see the flash.

Now thats a flash of light from the other side of the universe, with a pair of binoculars!!! omfg!

if you want more information about this, just post back, and leave comments if you want.

I don't really think half of us on the fourms care about the universe. Maybe those that want to become astronauts or scientists, but a bunch of teenagers don't really care about anything but gamez and skewl.

Though, there were some interesting facts, most ot them I already knew though. :\

So when you fail to graph that discoveries like this is the result of how you live today, and maybe in the future.

Nice post! It made me think, but then again, most of the idiots who post here care nothing more then getting into a usergroup to act like a total idiot and justify it by saying "well im in (insert usergroup here)", or talking about the latest video game and/or insulting Runescape whenever they get the chance.

Everybody who has half a brain will appreciate this thread, but the sad thing is, the people who actually have half a brain are under 20% of the pawn population.

Well, you can't really expect genius minds in an online flash game, can you? :)

the end of the universe? how it can happen more specifically...
wormholes?
antimatter?

D: but i learneded some things :D
and isnt the speed of light 186,282 mi/sec?

some cool facts dude but when did the universe begin i mean, everything has to START somewhere right?? and nothing can only create NOTHING so wtf lol?? im not really asking because its not like anyone knows but its well not really interesting to think about just annoying as hell =p
