Contact HP for help. If you take out the battery and still have the charger plugged in, will it work? It might be battery miscalculations or defects. If you take out the battery and still have the plug in, but theres no power, then its probably something wrong with the battery.

i dont understand, pretty much, i need to have the adaptor plugged in even if the battery is 55% charged, the cp gos unresponsive when the adaptor isnt plugged in, and the charge lvl wont go above 55%

If it wont go above 55% its a defect in the battery.
You need a replacement.

If it's a new laptop and you didn't let it charge for a day w/o using it you might have messed up the battery.

Like what beanie said
If you read the manual it suggests that you let the battery fully charge a day before you use it or it might never fully hold a 100% charge ever.
