im buying a new computer since the laptop im having to use graphics card sucks and im having to share it with another family member which is real annoying, anyways i was wondering if any one knows of any good gaming computers which are not to pricey since most of the the ones ive seen are in the 1000+ zone. any one know of any good ones which are not to expensive.
Good gaming computer?
Hmmm...
Depends what your looking for.
If your looking for a fast computer that will suport fast gameplay go with Vista.
If your looking for a moderate computer that will generate less lag go with XP.
If you want a sucky computer go with mac.
Or just buy a new graphics card.
It would be easier than going with a whole new system.
Any computer can be a great gaming computer, all you need is the Processor, graphics card, RAM, and hard drive
with gaming and performance, its all about the gfx card, not the RAM as most people will usually tell you. I suggest a Dell PC, as they are the company who has the technology behind names such as Alienware, Voodoo, etc. gaming comps. Also, go with a desktop as they come with better cooling units, which is important in high end computers.

i think that the HP Pavilion brand is good... by brother has one and its awsome... its fast... runs on Vista... has a High Def. (or as close as you can come to one on a cp) screen... and with the new back to school sales, you can get some for like 500-700

Acers are very reliable computers and I personally recommend them.
Windows XP is a must for gaming unless you're using any Mac native games on a Mac or any Windows application layer emulators on Linux (they're fairly horrible, tbh).

I guess DX10 means nothing to you.
Build your own computer.
A 2000 dollar gaming rig from alienware I can build for 800.
And if you are building the computer long term, get vista, it is the only operating system with direct x 10.
Heres a video about dx10.

Vista is a must if you plan on playing new games.
Also if you plan on building a system, make sure your cpu won't bottleneck your cpu, that can ruin your day.
And when shopping for ram, if you plan on playing good games make sure your ram is clocked to at least 800 mhz, but 1333 is what you really want. Anything lower than that you'll notice slowdowns.
And you want a 8800 GTX graphics card at least.
And also make sure your motherboard is Tri-SLI compatible so you can add more graphics cards if you start getting lag in games.
And I have a hunch your new to this kind of thing so make sure when you buy/build a computer it's motehrboard has at least 2 PCI-E 2.0 slots for use.
