The Nazi Invaders – Stalingrad

“Comrades of Russia! The Fascists have threatened to take over our beautiful land of ours. We will not let that happen! This is the land where your mothers were born and raised. This is the land that you have learned to love, and respect! We cannot let those Nazis take our land right out of our hands! If they are going to take something of ours that we truly love, then we shall give them hell! We are fighting for our land, our leader, our people, and our right to live as a normal Russian citizen!”
Just as the officer said the last few words, we heard the Germans cocking their weapons, and getting ready for one of the daily Russian raids that we would have against the Germans to take back our territory. I have never had any military experience at all. The only time I’ve fired a weapon was when I went hunting.
I took a glance to the left and right, and found our troops setting up their machine guns. Why would our own troops set up machine guns when the Germans aren’t even attacking? As I was thinking, the officer was about to give us our final, and maybe even last, orders.
“Comrades! Your objective today is to rush those German positions and push the Fascists back to where they came from! You will NOTretreat, you will not be afraid, and you will NOTfail! For the people, for Stalin, and for the land you love! CHAAAAAAARGE!!!” He yelled.
We all ran forward. Some had rifles, some had ammunition, and some had nothing but the clothes on their backs. I had only some spare ammunition that I took from a fallen comrade. I can still remember what the Sergeant said to us when I was at the docks.
“The one with the rifle SHOOTS! When the one with the rifle dies, the one with the ammunition picks up the rifle and SHOOTS!”
Just then, the Germans opened fire on us. It was mostly the MG42s that did the most damage. They cut us down faster than butter going through a meat grinder. There was nowhere to hide. We were out in the open, exposed, and easy targets for snipers and machine gunners. I saw men fall all around me. I was surprised I didn’t get hit yet. Some were retreating, but they just got shot in the backs, which made the pain even worst. We lost so much men that one comrade even yelled out, “Retreat!” But that was a big mistake. As our troops were retreating back to safety, the machines guns that our officers setted up opened fire on their own troops. Russian machine gunners were firing at their own people! This was mad I thought, just mad. Just then, I remembered that I was still running forward. Some comrades were still running also, but were soon to become victims to the German machine guns. I knew I was going to be next, until suddenly, there were mortars off in distance. Explosions started to get nearer and nearer to me, until, BANG. I got hit by one of the mortar shells and it sent me flying into a crater. Everything was fading into black darkness. I’m dead, I know I’m dead. I’m going to go off into heaven. I’m never going live a normal life, as a normal citizen. I’m going to die a soldier… But I never knew I was alive, until I woke up…
I know I quit Pawn, but I've agreed to keep writing stories and sharing them with you guys, since you are mostly the only people that read my stories anyways.
