is there a way for your text to appear say size 3 and yellow? with only having to pick the text and size once and it just automatically appears?

Either use the Advanced Poster which can be activated in User CP
Or use BBCode
Example
[ Color=Yellow][ Size=4]Example[ /Color][ /Size]

at the top of ur text box it will say "sizes", clik that and choose ur size, then next to it is a letter A with a black bar under it, click that and choose ur color.

Or highlht your text go to the size you want then highlight it again and click yellow
