My friend has a 6 GB file on his comp that I am trying to get for myself. Does anyone have advice for the best way to do get a copy of that file onto my comp? Below are some ideas I've thought of.

1) My flash drive is only 4 GB
2) CDR's and DVDR's don't have enough room
3) Online file storage may work, but I have crappy Netzero dial-up. I get downloads at 5kbps. *Goes into angry rage and destroys everything in my room*
4) I was thinking to compress the files, but I don't know how it would work exactly.
5) External hard drives would work, but they can get expensive.
6) I can download the file, but again I have $#$%$#$@ dialup.

Can someone please provide a cost-effective solution?

I tried just that. It said the file was too big.

Instead of compressing the whole 6GB, compress like folders in it. Then I guess try to fit it in your USB drive. I would reccommend some sort of free hosting site, but you said no to d/l the files.

So just compress the folders in it and that type of stuff, instead of compressing the entire 6GB.

could try filenuke.com but I don't know what the limit is.
p.s. Are you trying to rip off a game or what lolz 6 gig?

I wish I could do the files seperately, but there is only 2 files. A 4KB and a 6GB.

I think I'll just get an external hard drive. It's probably the best solution.

He doesn't need to compress it necessarily, he just wants a way to transfer other than what he pointed out would not work and what was already suggested.

I've tried Win Ace, you can shrink the file size by a third, to 4kb, or even less, if you compress afterwards

He said flash drive, this has nothing to do with hard space, he wants to pull a large file off one comp to another, but he doesnt have a big enough transport device

He's using a USB flash drive. Next time, take a moment to read what he's saying instead of just skimming. Plus 28GB is nothing. My 10 year old computer has better...

Do you have an MP3 player that can fit that 6GB file and can connect to a computer?

I'd also like to ask what it is... I'm not going to help somebody illegally copy files here.

Crap, I forgot to ask about that, I guess my app wont get Accepted X_x

Also, yea, an IPod, or A Zune will definatley work, if you have one.

It's nothing illegal. The only illegal downloading I have done was for music.

Whether or not I get the file won't matter anyways. I currently use my laptop because my comp is screwed up. I'll just get an external hard drive when I get the money. It'll come in handy with file storage.
