The redwings won obviously because they were the better team look at Who they have lidstrom porbably one of the best defensemen to ever even play the game, brian rafalski, michigan native also good defensemen pavel datsyuk amazing weith the puck...my nickname for him is theif cause he can steal the puck...etc they all have amazing skills and its not like crosby isnt gonna not get another chance to win the cup he probably will win it sometime but there not gonna be the ones beating detroit the best team in the western conference and the best team in the league for 2 years in a row too much fire power on offense and on defense and people who say the redwings are the NewYork Yanks of hockey are stupid there 2 best forwards were drafted like 200th overall in the draft all i have to say to those other teams is GET BETTER SCOUTS :)
*gets out sniper rifle* *joins greb on the roof of a building bordering the parade*

I still state that a healthy Avalanche team beats the Red Wings. Look at the lineup the Avalanche have.
All Stars:
Joe Sakic - Hall of Famer
Peter Forsberg - Best player in the world
Milan Hejduk - Sniper, 50 goal scorer
Ryan Smith - Nuff said.
Young Guns:
Paul Stastny - Runner up to Malkin in Calder trophy last year
Wojtek Wolski - Big, Strong, Talented scorer. Player of the year in juniors
Marek Svatos - Closely tailed Ovechkin and Crosby in scoring before he went out with a season ending injury. Led the league in GW goals.
John Michael Liles - High-scoring offensive defensmen
Able Vets:
Scott Hannan - All star D-Man
Adam Foote - All star D-Man
Andrew Brunette - Most underated player in the league
Brett Clark - Stay at home D-Men. Most consistant player on the Avalanche.
Ruslan Salei - Friggin Train
Net:
Jose Theodore - Hart and Vezina winner. Desotryed Minny in the first round
Most analysts had the series going 7 games, with the outcome split 50/50. If the Avs werent banged up, Jose hadnt come down with the flu (Some people cant even get out of bed with the flu, he freaking played hockey), and Peter had played, we could be looking at a much different playoffs outcome.
Be thankful for this tittle, beacuse the hockey gods smiled upon you. If they happen to shift their focus to the west next year, and keep us healthy. Look out.
Ps. Chris Osgood is still the worst goaltender to win a stanley cup. My mom could make 20 saves a night in front of the Red Wing defence too.

i was glad the pens lost cuz i said that crosby couldn't handle the pressure and the pens are a buch of rookies compared to the red wings.

greb you could go on and on about how you think the avalanche are better but all it comes down to is this: Detroit swept the avalanche in the second round of the playoffs ok and the reason why chris osgood doesnt have to face to many shots is because if you watch hockey like i do detroit is a puck possession team and are very good about not giving up rebounds. And you could say yes that the avalanche have some pretty good players but they dont have the players that detroit has...it doesnt just take good players...it takes chemistry and foresberg and sakic have that but pretty much they are the only players on that team that have excellent chemistry detroit has all around good players and work well as a team i know you dont like detroit...i mean you either love them or you hate them and i respect that you dont like detroit but you gotta remember they swept colorado in the second round of the playoffs...why because theodore choked and they had to switch to budaj when they should have started him after the third game of that series...it wasnt a smart decision on joe quenvilles part and i think it cost the avs the series

Avs could've won the series but they didn't. Detroit has the trophy winners, best defence and good goalies. (Off topic) I can't believe Hasek is going to retire :O. He is one of the best goalies in history! Anyways Detroit really deserved the cup.

A. Theo did not choke. If you watched the minny series he won that single handedly. Theo got the flue. Simple as that. Malkin had the flu as well in the finals, look at his total production...
B. The Avalanche had the most man games lost of any team in the playoffs. We lost our 3 best players for well over a month at the same time, and still got in. We had over 300 man games lost in total. I guarantee you if Zetterberg, Datsuk, and Lidstrom are out for 30-40 games at the SAME TIME. Detroit goes no where.
C. Wow, what a sweep. Two players with broken feet, one with broken ribs, top players on the sidelines. You were playing against the likes of Arnason, McLeod, Jones, and McCormick. Theres total combined NHL experience of about 5 years there. Wow. Hell, even Babcock said it felt unfair with the amount of injuries we had.
D. Quinville is a moron. I was against him in the first place, because hes a D-minded hag. An offensive team like the Avs has no business with a defensive coach. But thats ok, hes gone now. Granato is back, and hes got the highest winning percentage of any Avalanche coach. (And that was with David Aebischer in net!)
Look, im not saying the Wings are a bad team. They are one of the elites. I'm just saying that the way things played out, they did get lucky, and there are teams that can and will beat them in the NHL.
