Hey, if this was already posted, then I apologize and I did search threads to see if it was and found none so I'm just going to throw it out there...
(if this post is incorrect in any way please lockzor it)

...anyway, my suggestion.
I wanted to make a username without numbers (no offense to people with numbers, it's just a matter of opinion), unfortunately, I found that most of the cool names I wanted were already taken. I thought "Hey, this name is cool I wonder if it has good stats..."
*looks up stats: 0, 0, 0, 0...*
I notice MANY names are taking space on this game, and are unused! Of course, deleting these names could mean a lot, such as if they posted on forums, or maybe didn't have much time to play after making the name and having to wait. Of course you can't just kick off new people for not having time on their hands!
So, of course, feel free to trash my suggestion, whether it be dumb or a waste of time putting into effect, but my suggestion is...
Any username that has no rankings or post (all 0's) for 1 week (may differ) should be erased from the server.

Some questions that may be asked...
Q: Well it's a good idea (matter of opinion) but what about people that don't user forums, but do play games on CUSTOM maps? (this meaning they will have no ranked stats or posts)
A: Well, I'm not smart enough to think of a half-minded reply to this. I suppose I'll think of a 1/3 minded reply. No active log-ins for a week (may differ), along with the zero in all stats?

Q: It's a dumb idea, why erase names?
A: Thanks for your opinion. I think space is made for each name and they become unavailable each time one is made. Maybe less names would be open to more uniquely named players and space in the vast database of this game?

Q: How long did it take you to come up with this idea?
A: I was eating supper.

This thread is too long to read.
I don't like reading a lot.
By the sound of it though, it sounds good.

well i think its a good idea except that it should be that if they dont play for say...a month that their account should be deleted. i was luky enough to get w00t as a user name. as soon as i figured out it was available, i right away registered with this name.

...lol dz is very lazy.

Thanks for the positive guess, dz :D
And w00t, (gratz on the name :P) thanks for your suggestions :) that's why I added the (may differ) parenthesis statements by some things, because some people may approve of the idea but have their own suggestions on certain parts of it ;)

This is a good idea, but it depends case by case. Many users have "n00b" accounts that they only use to maze or on custom games. I have a couple of them, and I never post or play ladder games with them. I wouldn't like to seem them taken away either.

I agree that many cool names are taken. So long as the names are active, I don't mind the name being taken. However, if the account has been innactive for six months or so, then it should be taken off the server. The user who created the account likely has left pawn or created a diff account.

Yes, I know that some people may do that because they want more than they are given :P
I DID include that they would have to be inactive for however long (1 week (may differ)) would be deleted if they had absolutely no stats whatsoever.
The reason I add the "may differ" in parenthesis is because I know that there will DEFINITELY be people that disagree with the time of inactivity, and may agree with the idea otherwise (as a matter of fact, didn't I post something similar to this?)
Perhaps, if necessary, that inactive account may also have no maps? However, what if it just has one map and really has no effort put into it?
And, no offense to you Obliteration, but users were made to have a maximum of 5 maps for a reason, to save space on the database, which is what unused names and map-making names take up. I don't mean anything against you or that it's wrong, but I see that as the reason for there being a limit. Perhaps if you bring that up with Blank101, he may think about it :P
