First of all,
FENCING IS NOT A SPORT ABOUT PAINTING FENCES!
You wouldn't believe how often I get that.
Anyways, fencing is an olympic swordfighting sport, using the foil, epee, and the saber. The foil is the lightest, and easiest to use, but has too many rules, the sabre is kind of oddly used in comparison, and used for cutting, and my favourite, the epee(can't do the alt codes, sorry), is an open duel with a good weight to the sword. It feels more natural and is more fun to use :).
Fencing is a sport where you have to hit the person first, with the foil, there are a lot of rules. It is easier to use however and recommeneded for newbies.
The epee is a more open type of duel, slightly challenging to use for foil veterans, due to the fact it has less rules, and the sword is heavier, but the sabre is different. It can be used anywhere in the body EXCEPT the hands and the back of the neck. Because it is a slashing weapon, it feels more natural, but to a fencer it is a bit weird.
Paintball is a shooting game(woot) in real life, using paintball pellets. The object of the game varies, but the most popular is a deathmatch, having you hide behind obstacles. There are other variations, such as Objectives(capture the flag, etc), but it's all the same thing essencially.
