I personally think it's plausible. It's a hypothesis as of now, currently no direct positive proof, so it comes down to the waiting game, though even then I doubt it would have an instantaneous effect. If it doesn't happen, then the world continues revolving. If people discover the the end is near and try to live out their whole lives in some few short days, well then thats tough luck since you should be living everyday to it's fullest, world ending or not.

What Caliman said earlier is True, the Sun will die indefinitely. I may not be here but I would be living on by children so of course I would care, though they have countless years to find a solution then. When the Sun explodes then even Bacteria wouldn't survive by the way. Bacteria is resilient, only forces that are "Global Killers" would wipe them out, and the Sun exploding is one of them. The resulting heat flash would Incinerate Steel like fire burning strands of hair.

Global warming is happening, by natural means or otherwise, but that doesn't mean we'll be destroyed by it. We may lose a few cities, but we aren't going to just die over night. Sure there is will more devastating tornados that kills a few thousand more people, but since when do we care if storms are getting worse. Sure, a lot of fish species will die out in a chain reaction started off by coral bleaching, but since when don't we have farms. Sure, we'll get more acid rain that burns our skin a little, but we can get industral strength umbrellas.

Although all this probally won't affect us, only our children. So why do we care? >_>
