You have to get a certain score.

The first rank is 1000 points, then 2000, and so on.

And just in case you don't know how the point system works, you gain ten points for every kill, lose three for every death, and gain twenty-five for being on the winning team. You also have to play in Ladder Games (Yellow Icon) for points to count toward your score.
