The FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) is divided into two sections. The first section is current issues, where more recent issue questions show up. The second section holds general questions about how to play Pawn.
Please only post in this thread if you have a suggestion to edit/delete a question, or there's a mistake is grammar. If you wish to contribute to this FAQ, type out a question and please answer it. If you do not answer it, I shale try to. Any other posts will be deleted

When will Stat tracking be working?
Stat tracking is already working. Most likely, your account doesn't have any stats. While logged in, type "/stats" and press enter. If it says "No stats found for [your name]" then your account doesn't have any stats. This means you will never be able to rank up. The only way to fix this problem is create a new account.
To do that, I recommend creating an account through the forums (where you're currently at). If your logged in, log out and click on "Register." As of 3/22/2008 creating an account works fine (I tested it).

Why won't my stats update?
To have your stats update to your account, you must logout. To do that, you can click the "Logout" button from the lobby or just X out the browser.
If you do that and your stats still don't update, you may have been playing is a custom game (blue C). Custom games do not count towards your score for various reasons, mainly player-created maps can be bias towards one team.
How do I join a game?
While in the lobby, click on a game name in the game list (top left of the lobby window). Games with a yellow ladder Icon are Ladder Games. Your rank will increase while playing that type of game. Games with a blue C next to their name are Custom Games. Any kills or deaths do not count in custom games. The game type (Team Deathmatch or Assult) is in brackets at the end of the Game.
Example:
[C]join plz[Assult]
The above example is a custom Assult game called "join plz."
What are infractions / Why am I banned?
Infractions (sometimes referred to as kicks) are given by Moderators to Users who are suspected of breaking rules. The list of rules can be found at http://pawngame.com/forum/announcement.php?f=1. There are only a few types of infractions that will instantly ban you. They are: Spam (Excessive, Swearing (Excessive), Failed to Cooperate, Mod Abuse (Excessive), Bad Name, Cheating, Flaming (Excessive), Racism, and Pornography.
If you were banned for anything not listed above, it's because you get kicked often. The more infractions you have, the longer you'll be banned the next time your "kicked."
How do I take a screenshot?
hopefully your on a PC.
1. open up MS paint- new document.
2. switch out but leave it open, go to Pawn and when you see a picture you like press the PrtScr or the Print Screen key. It should be in the top right of your keyboard.
3. Then go to paint and go to edit > paste. The photo should be there. cut out the sides of the screen to save space by using eraser or just the box tool.
4. save it somewhere.
5. go to imageshack.com or any other free picture hosting site on the web. Host it and save the link they give you for forums.
when you paste the link in the forum make sure you add to the front and to the back
How do I upload/show a screen shot?
1. Go to the web site "http://www.imageshack.us" (No quotes)
2. Click on "Browse...". This is somewhat in the top-middle of the screen. It's a button.
3. Find where you saved your file and double click or single click > open.
4. Press the button "host it!" You can leave all settings at their default.
5. Wait a while for your picture to upload, it may take a while depending on your connection and picture size.
6. After it's done, look for: "Thumbnail for forums (1)". This will be next to a text box at the top.
7. Click once inside of the text box to highlight the text.
8. Press and hold the "CTRL" key and then press "c". (To copy) Release both keys.
9. Go back to Pawn forums and press and hold "CTRL" and then press "V" (To paste) while writing the post in which you want your picture.
Note: There are also other sites that host pictures, but I won't go into them in this FAQ.
How do I create my own Chat Room?
While in the lobby, type "/createroom [name] [password optional]" to create your own chat room.
Example:
/createroom myChat secret
The above example would create a chat room called "myChat" with a password "secret". If you do not wish to have a password:
/createroom myChat
Will create a chat room called "myChat" without a password.
Why do some people have blue names?
The answer to this question depends on where you're talking about. While in-game, people will blue names are C-Mods, or Channel Mods. That just means they created the chat room you're currently in.
While on the forums, people with blue names belong to a User Group. Basically, they're catagorys of users so have a passion for something. For more information, I recommend reading the User Groups section stickies. (http://pawngame.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=34)
How do I get more Weapons?
1. Kill a few people to get Kill Coins. (KC) Kill Coins are like a currency system in Pawn.
2. While dead, click on certain guns to buy them. The gun button should turn green if you bought the weapon. If you did not, you probably don't have enough KC to buy the gun.
3. Click on green guns to undo the purchase them and get your KC back.
4. Once you bought weapons, use the Scroll Wheel on your mouse, or the number keys on your keyboard, to switch weapons.
How do I change the picture next to my name?
That picture represents your rank. To change it, you must rank up. To rank up, your must gain a certain amount of score. The rank list can be found at http://www.pawngame.com/guides.php?p=1
How do I gain points (score)?
1. First you have to join a "ladder" game. To do that make sure the yellow ladder sign is high-lighted above the game box. After click, click on a game to join it.
2. Once inside, kill people to gain 10 points per kill.
If you die, you lose 3 points. If you get MVP (Most Valuable Player) you'll gain 25 extra points. MVP is decided by who got the most score. Everyone on the winning team will also receive a bonus of 25 points.
How can I check my/other peoples stats?
To lookup your stats in-game:
1. Log in to Pawn
2. Type "/stats [username]". Example: "/stats foot1221" (no quotes). Also, if you do not type a username, your stats will come up.
To look-up your stats on the high scores:
1. Click on the World Rank link (top of every page)
2. Type in your name in the box next to "User Search" and click the Search button.
What does the hammer sign mean?
The red hammer means Moderator (mod). They watch over the game to make sure everyone is following the rules (http://pawngame.com/forum/announcement.php?f=1)
Mods can:
1. Give users infractions for various reasons.
2. Close rooms.
3. Ban Users.
4. Become "invisible" from chat.
5. View chat in any room without being there.
If you believe someone is breaking a rule, please report it to an online Moderator. If no mods are online, please report them ("/report [username] [reason]").
How do I become a mod?
Simply asking yourself this question is a sign that you would not make a good mod.
If your curious anyway, helping out the Pawn community in a meaning full way is a good start. Try too hard to become a mod, and you will not become one.
How do I change my password?
1. On the top of every forum page is a link that says "User CP". Click on that.
2. Top left is another link that says "Edit Email & Password". Click on that.
3. Enter your current password (For security reasons), and then enter your new password and new email. You do not have to enter a new email.
NOTE: If you do not see "User CP" you must first login to the forums.
How Do I get my custom map from the map editor into the game?
First you have to same your map. After that, host a game as type "Custom". Press the refresh button (In the create room window) and look for your map. Make sure you have the correct game type. (Assault or Team Deathmatch)
You can not host Ladder games with maps you've created.
Why do I start out with {amount of kill coins} in a ladder game?
When you enter a game, you are given the amount of kill coins that the lowest player has. So lets say two people have 30 KC and one person has 20 KC. Then you enter. You would get 20 KC to start off with.
I join a room that rotates through maps, how do you do that?
When creating a new game, just add more maps to the map list. You may add as many of the same map as you want.
Example: Two times Arena then Drop. That would mean you start off playing Arena. Next round you will play Arena again. After that round, you would play Drop. Then the map list restarts at Arena. (Arena and Drop are both maps)
How can I reduce lag in-game?
Clearing your cache usually helps and requires no programs. There is a guide on clearing your cache at: http://pawngame.com/guides.php?p=10798. Upgrading your Internet explorer (Internet Explorer, FireFox, Opera, Safari) couldn't hurt. You can try adding more RAM to your computer. (Costs a lot of money)
Is there any way I can make it so I only see ladder/custom games?
There are two button at the top of the "Games" panel. They are a blue C and a yellow Ladder. Clicking them will toggo that game type. Example: You currently see all games. Clicking the blue C will make it so you only see ladder games.
Let me guess.. there's hackers in this game, aren't there?
There are hackers in every online game. If you see one, and get proof via screen shot (see above) then a moderator will ban the hacker.
How do I get that cool skull rank that I see some people have?
People with a Skull Avatar (Picture) are in the top 10. To get you, you must be in the top 10.
Do I have to pay-to-play?
Nope! You do have to put up with the ads though. They exist to help support the costs of Pawn. Please do not attempt to bypass the ads, they keep Pawn free for everyone.
