View Full Version : Headshots, Drowning, And Parachutes

I had this idea awhile ago, but wouldn't it be so holy awesome if when you got a headshot on someone, their head flew off (would basically disapeer) in a spray of blood (there's already blood in this game you stinkin bloodophobics) and your body would fall backwards instead of forwards. You like?

Also, I think on some maps (not the underwater ones, or ones that are predominately underwater) you could drown/nearly drown. That blue-tinted square that represents water should be a danger to all players, something to avoid. So what if your visor (little yellow line), and basically your nose and mouth/breathing holes, went underwater. I like doing this in castle wars, and say on chat "I'm holding my breath forever!" before some guy headshots me. So, if you went underwater for say, 5 seconds without "coming up for air," you'd start taking damage (10hp for every 1 second over limit). Damage would be low enough to not kill you for 1 second over, but would get you up. This would a limit on my next idea, underwater defense. It's been proven that water is 'bulletproof' and will stop bullets from killing you if you're under water. So the idea is: you underwater, you safe from anything (cept the laser gun). Thats what the limit is for. Also, you can't shoot underwater either, since that would just suck for anyone above water. One alternative to jumping up from the water to breath would be scuba gear. Like a weapon, would supply you with like 10 extra seconds of air before running out (so 10+5 is... long enough to get out of the water). Good thing about it is, that it is a 'dual' weapon. Meaning, you can wear your scuba gear (btw, it's activated by contact with water, so it won't run out when you spawn) and go crazy with that Desert Eagle, too. It'd be worth around 2 coins (not expensive), but would be free on certain levels (underwater ones, mostly water ones). It would look darn cool (who doesn't like little tubes curling around your neck and into your visor, and a big tank on your back?). It'd be refilled (10 sec of air) normally at a ammo crate.

Ahhh.... ever dream that you're falling off Mount Everest, then softly land in a bed of daisies? Me either. But anyway, you NEVER softly land in a bed of daisies (I have scars to prove it). So why do you in Pawn? I say, if you jump (or fall) more than 20-40 (whatever) squares (some maps are that tall) you die a bloody death, in which your corpse is mush on the floor. So, why jump? PARACHUTES (ice *cough cough* ice) BABY!!! Not complicated considering it'll just be a thin piece of tissue paper above your head (seriously, that's my vision of it).
If parachutes aren't your thing, I still think there should be a limit on how far you could fall wihout dying. Once I played a 9 height map, where you could jump out of this building to the ground 9 height things (I think its 100 squares?) and while I fell I wondered "Am I going to die when I hit the ground?" Nope. I landed with a soft touch and was immediately headshotted by a Desert Eagle

the water is an interesting idea but cud prove to be a tad hard...to script or code at lesast...but i liek it

Really? I dont think it will be that graphic. I mean on xbox live there are kids half my age playing halo 2 and gears of war. Gears of war is one of the most gorey games I've ever played. I dont think anything bad will come from having the heads fly off. And if they dont like it, they can go away :D

In order of your responses:

1. Ok, there's already blood in this game (I use the blood spray to see campers), and their head won't fly off literally. There'll be just one big blood spray and their head disapeers. No head gazing at you from the ground or anything like that (even though it'd be cool).

2. 10 seconds is to keep noobs from abusing the waterproof water. It'd get really annoying if some noob hopped into a lake and you couldn't shoot him for the entire game. Gotta admit that'd happen.

3.This is where I agree with you. I wasn't thinking straight then, parachutes are... indesirable.

I know water would be hard, but I'm pretty sure there are ready-made codes out there for timed damage (I think I saw a sight with help on this once). I've played lots of online games that have timed water/other stuff damage that were created in a short amount of time (credits said around 6 weeks to make game). Coding would be hard, but doable.

OI! Did anyone read my redo? THE HEADSHOT DOES NOT SHOW A HEAD FALLING OFF YOUR SHOULDERS! There is already blood in the game (get a friend and shoot him, you'll see it) and what I'm suggesting is basically a bigger blood splatter (big enough to cover head). After said splatter fades away (splatters are really fast, around 1/4th of a second), the head is gone. Not rolling among the grass, not flying into a bystander's face, but gone. The most gory part of the headshot is, well, the blood spray, which already is in the game. Maybe a red stump for a neck but no rolling head.
Also, quit on the parachutes, cuz I've admitted that it was a horrible idea.
Water: geez. stop protesting the limited breath rule.

Wow, with that final note, I have no idea if I should take you seriously anymore, but here's what I meant, Refill crate at bottom of pool of water, there is a guy refilling at the crate with the suit on, he is invincible and can kill anyone who gets near him.

why would there be an ammo crate underwater? except in the totally underwater levels. Plus, he wouldn't even be a threat. You can't shoot someone underwater, and they can't shoot you. Besides, they gonna run outta kill coins eventually, and either drown or get shot.

On castle wars the blue bits the sky.
And drowning would be kinda crappy cause you might not be able to tell the water from the sky and would just die randomly, that would be cheap.
And the surge of blood would lag.

Ok in castle wars you can totally tell water from sky (the shades are completely different and btw, you can't get underwater there, i.e., you can't drown.). And blood right now doesn't cause lag, even when I pull out a P90 and kill someone without headshots. That's alot of blood, and I never lag.
So a big(ger) splatter of blood won't cause lag unless everyone in the game gets headshotted.
