Well im not ure if im aloud but hello ppl this is how to make a picture on gimp. may work for photo shop.
USE TECH BRUSHES OR ZHENU BRUSHES im not going to tell you how to put them on gimp but get them of dvineart.com its all free and its not viruses.
1 make your thing. it depends on what your making a siggy or a pcture. im going to make a siggy for this one. make the hight 100 and the width 400.

2 after its pulled up do the next step O.o
3 go to edit and fill it with the fg color.then pull up your gimp bar and swtch your black thing to white. Then for what im using is a diffrent brush O>o but its ok itl come out the same. now after youve done that part color your picture till it looks like a mix of black and white. http://img301.imageshack.us/my.php?image=79691318vv9.jpg
4. after your saticfied with the work youve done change your black and white thing on your gimp bar back to black.
5. make a new layor the same as before.
6.use a diffrent brush and color this one black untill it looks a black over white mix.(use diffrent brushes threout this whole thing).
7.repeat this 2 or 3 times. more if you think it may come out beter.
9. meh im not saticfied yet XD so go to colors then go to brightness and contrast. mess with it untill it looks apealing to you.
10. make a new layor lol.
11. now go to your gimp bar. the thing that looks like a blackish white thing that says blend tool click on it.
11 now you hace to find the color u want =p lol in this case im using red and green for mario and luigi.
12 to change the colors to what you like go to dialougs and go to the thing that says grandite. click that and look for what u want. if its not in there this next part is handy.
13 click on the thing of the bottom left of the gradiets thing that pops up. it should say new grandite editor or somthing like that editor. to create a new it do the folowing.
14 click the thing at the top that looks like a arrow. there should be 3 or 4 catigories the first two are the only ones im explaining.
15. click the left side and simply make it the color you want. same with the right.
16 save it and now this is where i usly get confused =p

17 make a new layor
18fill it in with the grandite you did.
19 i figured it out do this. rectandular the grandite u just did and stack it down untill it has the backround that you had from before. http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/4594/75923245be7.png
20 theres seperate instructions on this part but ill help you with it
get the picture you want and press print screen its a key.

this is on how to cut it XD
use the lasso rope and trace the whole outside for your person (i usly dont use lasso rope since my screen is big enough for me to see seperate pixles) . dont get to close to his body were deleating stuff that can harm the next part. http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/5176/32846504ab2.png
after youve outlined his body press enter when it gives you the opertunity it deleated the stuff. just control c and paste it again on a new sheet much easyer http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/5176/32846504ab2.png
now since you should be using 2.4 use the smart sisors to cut it out.
you HAVE TO LINK IT! it shows you the option to link the rope your holding and the 1 u first placed for the siscorss. connect them and wala you have a perfectly fine cut out man after you go to the middle of him and press enter and control x. XD to make him smaller make another thing with the cutout and scale it
now paste him onto the other picture youve been working on. move him to where he should be and ur done gratz! morphing the charictor with the painting is to boring
