There is a trick to gimp you may not have known-Gimp can animate.

How?

Draw a stick figure using the brush tool, then click duplicate layer, erase the bodypart you wanna move and redraw.

Remember to ease, and it can be used well.

Try Ez toon.

It's way harder than pivot.
