I learned this like 3 months ago.
Click colour to alpha, and make the colour black.
not working?
use fuzzy select and delete.

Uhm..
Here.
When you go to get a render, do you first click on the image? Like, to maximize it?
If you do that, then the background will become transparent.
And, if that doesn't work, send me the link and I'll fix it up for you.

when i do the alpha to color thing it makes the entire thing transparent and removes the black backround, but then when i try to use it its all yellow and/or plain transparency but when i use black backround it works just fine until i change anything or add a brush any help?

Are you registered?
If not, thats your problem.
If you pick a render on Planet Renders, there is a black background.
When you click on the render with the black background, it should pop up in a new window.
The window will have a white background. but it's still transparent.
