Here’s something for everyone that will really speed up FireFox:
Step 1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit enter. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request at a time. When you enable pipelining, it will make several at once, which really makes the page load faster.
Step 2. Change the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 25-30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.
Step 3.Finally, right-click anywhere and select New>Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0″. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.
If you’re using a broadband connection you’ll load pages MUCH faster now!
It works GREAT

Jake, I couldn't find out for Opera.
The only thing I found RELATIVELY close was when you type "about:config" and scroll down to performance.
Then change Max Connections to a bit higher.

All you're doing is editing packet transfers. Here's a good one to use with your edit.
1. Find the line that says network.http.pipelining.maxrequests.
2. Double click it.
3. Dialog box will pop up.
4. Change the setting from 4 to 100.
5. Close and restart FireFox.

Thx, man, I'd found this once, but forgot where, and forgot to look for it again. (I'd changed to FF Portable).
One thing, I'd heard that messing with this makes Firefox a bit unstable.
Could this be true?
