I think the terms mentioned are overused and should not be used at all. By doing so you are promoting hardship and violence. I have seen these both in user names as well as a player's location where he put "The Ghetto". I have no idea what got inside their head but I will educate all who think that is okay.
Beginnings of the "Ghetto"
The word "ghetto" is a term used to describe a low-income area also known as the projects. It started in World War Two when may people moved the coastal regions of the United States to search for a job. The main employer were the Naval shipyards producing ships for our Naval fleet. However years after the war ended so did their employment as the shipyards were closed. Thus, leaving many unemployed which leads to the conditions today.
What is the "Ghetto?"
As you already know it is a low-income area which also contributes to the rise of gangs. Look I would never ever want to live in the "Ghetto." I can also say that everybody in the ghetto would like to have their living conditions improved drastically. The ghetto is full of old deteriorating homes whose owners cannot afford maintainence of their homes. Jobs are scarce while existing jobs pay very little. There is a lack of a "father-figure" to motivate their children in education which leads to this continuing and a sole mother with her pathetic SS check to make ends meet. Sometimes mom would starve to feed her kids and sometimes they would all starve.
Gangs
Gangs a group of people involved in illegal activities. I live in Oakland but not the ghetto. However I can tell you that there have been eighty+ homicides this year mostly gang-related. Gangs are related in shootings, homicides, drug-dealing or prostitution or all of the preceding. They recruit children which ruins their education and worst of all they may end up in prison or dead. They deal drugs which cause addiction while the customer doesn't have the money. Therefore he ends up dead. Gangs may also fight with other gangs but keep in mind the gangs are made up of recruited children. Gang violence can cause one too many stray bullets to fly and kill a baby. Gangs sadly may also kill at memorials for homicide victims as I have seen on the news.

The ghetto is a harsh area to live and some of it's inhabitants have been killed. Gangs are violent groups of brain-washed children which commit many illegal activities. These both are horrible but we do not need to endorse or popularize them in anyway. I also suggest we allow people with gansta etc in their names to change them if they wish.
