Since the WII is in a different league it will not be represented. Which do you think is better and WHY? I post my reasons with HARDCORE PROOF of why I think the PS3 is better. I am going PS3 80 GIG vs Xbox 360 Elite. Best VS Best.

PS3 "Storage" VS 360 "Storage"

PS3 - Has 80 GB Hard Disk Drive which is UPGRADEABLE TO ANY SIZE.
360 - Has 120 GB Hard Disk Drive which is NOT upgradeable.

PS3 - Memory Stick, SD, & Type I/II CompactFlash
360 - 360 Memory Cards

PS3 - USB Mass Storage
360 - USB Mass Storage (AV CONTENT)

Winner?

PS3 hands down, not only can you upgrade the HDD to ANY size but you can get 120 GB HDD for less than the price of the 360 one. Also you can use excess memory sticks for memory cards that work on any computer that can use it, all you get to save 360 games on are Memory Cards, which don't work on a computer, and USB Mass Storage which, however the PS3 has multiple options. Also the 360 can only store AV content on there Mass Storage.

PS3 - BLU Ray, DVD, CD, SACD

360 - DVD, CD

Winner?

PS3 hands down again. Not only can it play more than the 360 but it also plays BLU Ray which plays games and movies in High Definition whereas the 360 needs an ADD ON to play High Definition (MOVIES ONLY).

PS3. It has one extra USB port, BUILT IN Bluetooth for remotes. 5 ways to save PS3 data. Also the PS3 will soon have radio and a TV Tuner. :)

PS3 barely wins this one, Since DTS can be used on video games which is far superior to WMA Pro. Also it has Dolby True HD for High Definition movies whereas 360 only has DTS.

360 - 100BASE-TX Ethernet

PS3 Hands down. Not only can you connect it WIRELESSLY to a router, its own built in network card can connect faster than the 360's.

360 - RGB, VGA, Component, S-Video, Composite, SCART, HDMI 1.2

PS3 wins this because the PS3 can produce a better picture overall and also you can use HDMI 1.3a with it which is far superior to HDMI 1.2. SCART is shitty because it connects VIA Pins, same with VGA. They are only used to convert mainly 360 cores from VGA to HDMI.

You are probably thinking they tied? Well your wrong. PS3 also wins this because the PS3's BLU RAY System allows it to take full advantage of HDTV without limiting other things such as graphics or sound, whereas on the 360, due to DVD constrictions, there will be no "True" 1080P games, unless they are VERY little.

PS3 Hands down. Just kidding. They both tie here. The PS3 has a nice network, but it does not compare to XBOX Live, except for the face that PS3 is free. The PS3 does have an internet browser, it will also have Playstation home and TV tuner, and when those come out, this will not longer be a tie.

Your thinking 360? Wrong. PS3 wins this, why? The 360 power brick is huge, not only is it very large but it is very annoying and very heavy. If it were added to the 360 it would make it bigger than the ps3 (remaining slightly lighter) however, if you can lift up 10 LB's of 360, you can pick up 11 LB's of PS3. PS3 wins because of the annoyance with the power brick.

PS3 wins, not only can it use 3 more controllers at the same time than the 360, but it can also use its little brethren PSP as a controller for most parts, VIA WiFi, so you don't have to be in front of the PS3.

PS3. Lets start off with the basics. PS3's RSX chips runs 50 MHZ faster. It can have up to 600 million transistors, almost double the 360's. Now to put this in "Idiot terms" the 360's GPU has a design in it so one component handles pixels AND vertex's, where as the PS3 does these things each separately. This allows for more to get done, and it gets done faster. This one is very hard to debate because people will argue it saying each things is better than this. However Gears of Wars producers have said that they used every ounce of strength the 360 had to make gears of war. Killzone 2 for the PS3 looks far superior to Gears of War in real time footage, also with the Killzone producers saying they have still not used maximum console strength. The PS3 will win this now and in the future when developers learn how to use it.

PS3 "Memory" VS 360 "Memory"

PS3 - 256 MB XDR @ 3,2 GHz, 256 MB GDDR3 @ 700 MHz, GPU can access CPU memory.

360 - 512 MB GDDR3 @ 700 MHz shared between CPU & GPU, 10 MB EDRAM GPU frame buffer memory

PS3 wins this, not only because half of its memory runs at 3.2 Ghz, but because each 256 stick is meant to do a certain thing. Each stick is "CPU" and "GPU" Independently, although devolopers can use both ram slots for one thing, just the "better" graphics will go on the "graphics" ram. This allows for faster game play and better and faster frame rates.

PS3 "CPU" VS 360 "CPU"

PS3 - Cell Broadband Engine (3.2 GHz POWER-based PPE with seven 3.2 GHz SPEs)

360 - 3.2 GHz IBM PowerPC tri-core codenamed "Xenon"

PS3. Lets see in idiot terms, a computer CPU is in the 360, whereas the PS3's was once again custom built for the PS3 just like the PS2's Emotions Engine was. (However the built it to be able to be used with computers as well) Also the 7 SPE cells allow for more things to happen at once than the 360's processor can do... Think of it as... on the 360 only 100 enemies can perform different moves, but on the PS3 1000 can.. Also the Ghz of the cell combined doubles and more of the 360. PS3 can output 216 Gflops whereas the 360 can only output 116 gflops. It is faster better and performs better, much much much better than the 360. It is so good that 20000 of these processors overpower 200000 of some of the worlds most powerful supercomputer possessors. You can get that information from the Folding@Home project.

Overall Winner?

PS3 hands down.

Now to all you fanboys that say the 360 is better, if you don't back it up with PROOF then apparently it is not, so until you do that, and give me time to make a response, PS3 will win.

hell yeah the PS3 is better but the controller part, 360 wireless controllers can be used from a distance even in another room. hell my friend went to the restroom with a controller turned it off, went outside and turnd it back on but what ever PS3 better

Bluetooth PS3 remotes have farther range than a controller on a radio frequency.

You could of said the same thing about the dreamcast as well.. When the PS2 came out it had no good games, and the dreamcast was already the most popular since it has been out. But wait? Also of course it has good games and more of them, its also been out a year longer, when it first came out it had almost no good games just like the PS3, so that argrument is futile once again.

Ahem, its the only system as of now that takes full compatibilities of an online system seeing as how they TESTED the online system with the original Xbox (losing 4 billion in the process) meaning that they already knew fully well how to operate an online system, when Playstation Home and TV Tuner come out, you can guarantee yourself that people will know Playstation Network.

Yeah, you got Halo 3.

We got Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid 4 online, Killzone 2, Saints Row is coming to the PS3, and GTA is also coming to the PS3, also Rockstar is making a PS3 exclusive, and we all know how good Rockstar is.

360 was being created before blu-ray, therefore it would not be able to have it
also, eheem, Halo 3, Half-Life 3, and Gears of War. 360 hands down has better games
but i think its more of a matter of opinion, Xbox owners like the 360, PS2 owners like the PS3, and Gamecube owners like the Wii
so technologically, the PS3 is more advanced, but i think the Wii is more fun
and the 360 has better games, but thats just my opinion

Your wrong, Blu Ray AND HD-DVD were being created way before the Xbox 360.
Blu Ray was being developed in 2002, and HD DVD was being worked on before DVD even came out. So that does not hold water.

I totally agree with you Poosh except on one thing and that is what I quoted.
Rockstar violated their GTA exclusive contract already when they turned San Andreas over to the XBox.

On the contraire, they never had a contract with Sony to keep it exclusive on the PS2/PS3. People just thought it was since it was only being released on the PS2. There have been several statements from both Sony, Rockstar, and 1up people discussing it with them and them explaining that they never had an exclusive agreement and that Rockstar was just on really good terms with Sony and that Sony respects them for going multiplatform. (Did you ever remember that GTA's came out for PC and PS2 at almost the same time? Thats not exclusive)

360 is cheaper because it came out earlier thus the demand for it has fallen over the years. PS3 has JUST come out thus price for it will stay high for the first year for optimal profit...then fall down like the 360.

Not sure, but I know that when people were like "OMG GTA IV is being released on both at the same time", that both Sony and Rockstar said the above.

Well yes but you follow the standard marketing flow High Demand/High Price Low Demand/Low Price.
If the consumer demands a product so badly the manufacture should(and most likely will) hike up the price for better earnings...then when the riot calms down they level off the price so they dont completely lose everyone.
Im not saying they are making a killing in profit...thats just the trend

well my system doesnt break down :D the wii is fun and iam on it right now also lol also who wants to buy a peice of junk that cost over 600$ that breaks down when it gets over heated and so you have to buy a cooling system that cost over 200$ to even play it and also for the games that cost over 70$ which is almost the total of 1000$ if you get 2 games lol so you want that or the wii that cost less then 300$ that doesnt over heat and you can play old school games like metroid and you can connect ure wii to ure ds with the wifimax that cost 40$ while the ps3 wifimax cost over 80$ and you can play street fighter on ure ds and other games for a fraction of 20$ also almost all the games for the wii are lower then 50 dollars while they dont have good graphics they can use sensors to play games online or with friends and you dont have the limit of just 2 controlers with the ps3 with out the adaptor were the controlers cost almost as much as the GAMES while with the wii you can have up to 6 controlers for less then 20$ dollars A PEICE

But Sony was able to catch the problem BEFORE the PS3 was released

-So what if the ps3 has better hardware?? sure it matters for the geeks who look at EVERY freaking aspect of the console's hardware. Think of what really matters on a console. GAMES. not storage space (seriously, cant you just store your porn on your computer??), not the weight of the console, and not the GPU (whatever teh hell that is).
I do admit that it is annoying that you have to have a separate hd drive for dvds, and a hd tv for hd. and yes, i do admit that the ps3 will have good games in the future, but so will the 360, and it already has.
360 games:Gears of War, Halo 3 (soon), Dead Rising, Saints Row, Crackdown, Oblivion, Lost Planet, FEAR, Tom Clancy's Advance Warfighter 2 or whatever lol.
PS3 games:Resistance, fall of man, FEAR, Oblivion, warhawk, and maby a few others.
-note:thats only counting 1st party games.
-note:i only put down the ones i remember, so dont flame if i forgot a couple.

I don't know about PS3 that much. I only like 360's because of mainly...Halo 3. Secondly I think its a good system, hasn't broken on me yet. You guys just got to keep it in a well vented area and don't bang into it or anything.

They did, "Less than one %" can mean that 100 of 5 million broke.
Most consoles USUALLY have a 1% defect rate, so having one that has less than 1% defective is VERY VERY good in console terms.

Figure it would work along with Throw Moves you grab one then switch to the other and how hard or fast you switched pads would determine the distance and damage

Once again, Square Enix does NOT have a contract to keep Final Fantasy's PS3 only, they can make them go to any platform. The ONLY reason Final Fantasy XI is on the 360 is because it started out as a PC game, then transformed into a PS2 game, then into a 360 game.

Also they are not having trouble developing for blu-ray, they are having trouble developing for its Cell Processor, they have yet to take FULL advantage of the Cell.

With EVERY new video game system, you need to learn how to develop for it. When the PS2 first came out, developers said it was VERY hard and confusing to develop for.... Now look at it.

Nintendo will always be last bro, the only reason the Wii is so good is because of "innovation" ask a lot of people that own the wii, they will tell you after youve played with it for a while, its boring. Plus its only like 10000% cheaper. :/

PS3. Lets start off with the basics. PS3's RSX chips runs 50 MHZ faster. It can have up to 600 million transistors, almost double the 360's. Now to put this in "Idiot terms" the 360's GPU has a design in it so one component handles pixels AND vertex's, where as the PS3 does these things each separately. This allows for more to get done, and it gets done faster. This one is very hard to debate because people will argue it saying each things is better than this. However Gears of Wars producers have said that they used every ounce of strength the 360 had to make gears of war. PS3. Lets see in idiot terms, a computer CPU is in the 360, whereas the PS3's was once again custom built for the PS3 just like the PS2's Emotions Engine was. (However the built it to be able to be used with computers as well) Also the 7 SPE cells allow for more things to happen at once than the 360's processor can do... Think of it as... on the 360 only 100 enimes can perform different moves, but on the PS3 1000 can.. Also the Ghz of the cell combined doubles and more of the 360. PS3 can output 216 Gflops whereas the 360 can only output 116 gflops. It is faster better and performs better, much much much better than the 360. It is so good that 20000 of these processors overpower 200000 of some of the worlds most powerful supercomputer possessors. You can get that information from the Folding@Home project.

PS3 hands down.

Now to all you fanboys that say the 360 is better, if you don't back it up with PROOF then apparently it is not, so until you do that, and give me time to make a response, PS3 will win.

Its cheaper, easier to use, xbox live is amazing, and the media system knows no bounds. Plus, its more affordable. Even if you buy the elite, and xbox live, its still a good 80 dollars less than the ps3.

I think that it is better to only pay $300 - $400 dollars for a system that can do just about the same graphics except for the racing games. I must say that overall PS3 isn't impressing me. I really liked Resistance but after you beat it....it's no fun anymore. In my opinion, I don't see anymore PS3 games worth playing. For now I'm just waiting for the new line up of games for the ps3 to come out and I will then change my opinion. One thing I didn't understand was having sonic the hedgehog as a opening game for the ps3. We're they drunk or something? Why not start big like the xbox 360 and the wii? According to Sony "I've seen nothing yet".

Thank you Nintendo for providing such great starter games on release date and giving us the full potential of the Wii console. thank you for giving us what may be this year's best RPG (zelda: twilight princess) and thank you for the revolutionnizing the way we play games. But please, give us more games that aren't mario and zelda. Something new. And take advantage of the Wi-Fi component. Maybe some voice chat. Give us more ways to abuse the wii mote.

Xbox 360. You aren't as technical as the Ps3, and not as new as the Wii, But you are a mix of both. Your games are so much fun and never gets boring. You blessed us with gears of war. A possible game of the year nominee in numerous events. You gave us Xbox live. You gave us the elite 360 and never ending lists of hit games.

As much of a sony hater as I am, I'm looking forward to the new game list and i'll give em a try and hope to have a better look at sony.

I'm impressed by Metroid 3 but I decided not to buy it because it doesn't have multiplayer. I cried for days.

Halo 3 is looking good. I was impressed by the BETA graphics and it apparently "isn't as its fullest potential. Not even close". So thats something to look for.

I think Microsoft has this year's console wars in the bag with all of the games coming out for it. Halo wars is also looking good.

Also you can use excess memory sticks for memory cards that work on any computer that can use it, all you get to save 360 games on are Memory Cards, which don't work on a computer, and USB Mass Storage which, however the PS3 has multiple options. Also the 360 can only store AV content on there Mass Storage.

PS3. Lets see in idiot terms, a computer CPU is in the 360, whereas the PS3's was once again custom built for the PS3 just like the PS2's Emotions Engine was. (However the built it to be able to be used with computers as well) Also the 7 SPE cells allow for more things to happen at once than the 360's processor can do... Think of it as... on the 360 only 100 enimes can perform different moves, but on the PS3 1000 can.. Also the Ghz of the cell combined doubles and more of the 360. PS3 can output 216 Gflops whereas the 360 can only output 116 gflops. It is faster better and performs better, much much much better than the 360. It is so good that 20000 of these processors overpower 200000 of some of the worlds most powerful supercomputer possessors. You can get that information from the Folding@Home project.

Sony is gonna be releasing Final Fantasy soon which is basicly gonna make Halo 3 look like pac-man with the sales comparison.
Sony also has around 3 other games waiting to be released near christmas and like 2 in the shadows of development

I rented it, thanks. And in 1080P full HD, it makes PS2 GFX Looks like crap, however in regular definition it looks like crap.

Also Untold legends was MEANT to be a game for the PS2 and NOT for the PS3. So they did not work on the graphics all that much, just improved what theyc ould, and di what they could was immpossible to do on the PS2.

The Achievement system / Start-up screen adds character to the 360. The 360 is less expensive. Duh! Last, but not least, Sony's gaming division is billions in debt. ps3 has free online internet free game demos and free movies

So in the long run the ps3 is the better choice :)

If your excuse for not buying a PS3 over a 360 then you're just plain cheap. It costs more cause as former posts stated, it is newer than 360. 360's attempt to be better or at least try to be equal was teh 360 elite, which is $500. If you're going to complain over $100, then you're just dead poor, or are so desperate for an excuse you sunk to being jewish(Lord, Jake apologizes). Another thing is that, it costs more cause of the better hardware they had to put into it. Meaning it's 100 cheaper cause of the lesser technology put into it than that of PS3.

Does Jake have a PS3? No, cause saving up money for a car. Know what that has? Pawn forums only permit Jake to quote an awesome quote "Don't come a knockin', when the van is a rockin'". After the money is spend on the car, won't have enough money for a Wii.

PS3 wins BY FAR. You say Xbox360 is cheaper, it is, but this is witch one is better, the price is barely relevant. PS3 can be updated/upgraded in nearly every way, and yes there is a few flaws but most of them can be fixed with updates on www.playstation.com and the rest are being fixed.

Also I had this one game, The Warriors on PS2. The disk had a missing part on its protective surface (damn that annoyed me!) as soon as i bought it and not even a brand new PS2 Slimline could read it. But somehow my PS3 does!

also, eheem, Halo 3, Half-Life 3, and Gears of War. 360 hands down has better games

Sorry but specs does not make or break a console, it is the games made for it, and just so you know xbox live is so much more popular to the ps3 online play it's not even comparable.

Games are the main driver for a system, and as present xbox 360 is winning, like it or not.

I have yet to be impressed with the ps3 in any aspect, because its winning in things that clarity is much more minor compared to basic game play.

xox live also came out two years ago. Ps3 has been out almost a year and more than 5 million people have registered online.

As you can see, the PS3 is selling SLIGHTLY (VERY SLIGHT) more consoles in the SAME TIME FRAME as the XBOX 360.

But wait, when the 360 was out it had NO competition except the PS2.

The PS3 has the WII, 360, PS2 to compete with so it has sold JUST AS MANY IF NOT MORE 360's in the SAME time frame with 3 TIMES as MUCH competition.

So if you say that "Ps3 is not selling" etc, your totally wrong.

they both have their ups and downs, 360 has games like halo 3 among others...granted many of their good games (looking at u bioshock and orange box) are available for PC as well...but if u cant afford a comp that can run those games, a 360 is a great option...as for the PS3...u wouldnt find me going out and buying one right now...not with the lineup they have...MGS 4 looks amazing...Heavenly Sword is really fun...but short...and i forget who posted it on page 2...but Killzone 2 will NOT be a halo3 killer...that is exactly what people were expecting out of the first one...it let me down incredibly badly...but overall, theres some amazing games coming out for both systems...so why not keep em both around...

This allows for faster game play and better and faster frame rates.

PS3. Lets see in idiot terms, a computer CPU is in the 360, whereas the PS3's was once again custom built for the PS3 just like the PS2's Emotions Engine was. (However the built it to be able to be used with computers as well) Also the 7 SPE cells allow for more things to happen at once than the 360's processor can do... Think of it as... on the 360 only 100 enimes can perform different moves, but on the PS3 1000 can.. Also the Ghz of the cell combined doubles and more of the 360. PS3 can output 216 Gflops whereas the 360 can only output 116 gflops. It is faster better and performs better, much much much better than the 360. It is so good that 20000 of these processors overpower 200000 of some of the worlds most powerful supercomputer possessors. You can get that information from the Folding@Home project.

PS3 hands down.

Ahem, if you recall Xbox 360s were stacked on shelfs by May. (6 months after at launch)

If you also recall PS3 was stacked on shelves in about ohhh May. (6 months after launch)

And I see stacks of 360's as well, does not mean they don't sell.

Also some Wii fans may say that "Omg you can't get a Wii anywhere" Well, Nintendo is milking your little brains. If you go into ANY japanease store you will be guaranteed to get a Wii.

Since the WII is in a different league it will not be represented. WHich do you think is better and WHY? I post my reasons with HARDCORE PROOF of why I think the PS3 is better. I am going PS3 80 GIG vs Xbox 360 Elite. Best VS Best.

PS3. Lets start off with the basics. PS3's RSX chips runs 50 MHZ faster. It can have up to 600 million transistors, almost double the 360's. Now to put this in "Idiot terms" the 360's GPU has a design in it so one component handles pixels AND vertex's, where as the PS3 does these things each separately. This allows for more to get done, and it gets done faster. This one is very hard to debate because people will argue it saying each things is better than this. However Gears of Wars producers have said that they used every ounce of strength the 360 had to make gears of war. Killzone 2 for the PS3 looks far superior to Gears of War in real time footage, also with the Killzone producers saying they have still not used maximum console strength. The PS3 will win this now and in the future when devolopers learn how to use it.

PS3. Lets see in idiot terms, a computer CPU is in the 360, whereas the PS3's was once again custom built for the PS3 just like the PS2's Emotions Engine was. (However the built it to be able to be used with computers as well) Also the 7 SPE cells allow for more things to happen at once than the 360's processor can do... Think of it as... on the 360 only 100 enimes can perform different moves, but on the PS3 1000 can.. Also the Ghz of the cell combined doubles and more of the 360. PS3 can output 216 Gflops whereas the 360 can only output 116 gflops. It is faster better and performs better, much much much better than the 360. It is so good that 20000 of these processors overpower 200000 of some of the worlds most powerful supercomputer possessors. You can get that information from the Folding@Home project.

PS3 hands down.

This might be a little off topic but its close enough and I needs pooshes advice :)

So I have my ps3 and when I tried to set up my online I could never stay connected for over a minute.

I did some research on the problem and I believe it is because I have a B router and the ps3 wants at least a G router to play online.

Now I know if I buy a G router that would fix the problem but Im wondering if I but a new wireless N router if that would speed it up any or help with staying connected.

And while the PS3 has some good hardware, there's one up-side to the slightly-lesser hardware of the 360; compatablility. Most publishers just can't upgrade to the standards of the PS3's hardware, but the 360 is publisher-friendly! The 360's hardware is easier to work with, which means more kickass games like Gears.

Then there's price. The PS3 is still pretty expensive, however, the 360 is nearing the 300 dollar mark, meaning more people can get their hands on one.

How sad that people are comparing a console that have been out for so long to a console that has just been released, yet the graphics on the "just been released" console is the same if not better then the "out for so long". For a console that has had a few years headstart on the PS3, they really havnt made progress :| must show MS' commitment to standards....
BTW how many X-boxes were recalled when they fried?

Well PS3 can take Wireless A/B/G so I believe it is not the PS3.

Ps3 CAN NOT I repeat CAN NOT use wireless N routers. The technology is not in it. I suggest you get a router that outputs mixed signals (Wireless A/B/ and G) that way the PS3 picks them all up as computers do and uses each one to their advantage)

Example:

Wireless B outputs only 15 feet but has data transfers of 54 MBs whereas wireless a is 30 feet but only 30 MBs and wireless G is both. (Those are not the exact data just an example)

1.) I never denied that Xbox 360 CURRENTLY has better games. So this argument was won by Xbox 360 people 10 years ago.

2.) God of War 2 is for PS2.

3.) I guess since Bioshock, Fear, Prey, Fight Night, and TOo Human don't appeal to me, that makes the Xbox 360 suck right? Wrong, so your "appeal to me" argument is weak.

People bashed it exactly the same way they are bashing the PS3 right now, but wait. The Dreamcast was EASY to develop for. What happened? Oh yeah PS2 prevailed and the Dreamcast failed.
Same thing with computers. Once you buy them they are obselete. Sony makes theres so advance that they last 10 years.

Xbox 360 near 300 bucks yes yes. But how much more can the PS3 do? Tons. Lets just take ONE thing. HIGH DEF MOVIE PLAYBACK. If you want to do that on the 360 then you need to add a 200 dollar add on. Oh wait ZOMG That makes it ON PAR with the PS3!! And it does not even have wireless connection, pre-chargable controllers, bluetooth, memory card slots, upgradeable hard drives to (ANY size you want), less USB ports, no HDMI (on MOST of them) and more. So yeah your pricing bit does not hold water when the PS3 has more things it it and when the 360 gets all those that the PS3 has it is hundreds of dollars more than the PS3.
