I would like the idea. It would be better than waving to turn the gun and shoot at the feet and jump, shoot at head, get killed by that guy cause I suck, so, yeah. It would be good I think.

Why would you ever need to melee?
Why would you run into a crowed of people with guns?
Why would you try to recklessly run into an armed person trying to melee them when your out of ammo, instead of just using the pistol?
:p I hope my point is taken.:D

You try killing someone when they are overlapping you...
Get too close, and they can't hit you. That's why this person thought up the 'melee button' thing. I just say, have a knife that does good damage, but make it a wieldable weap with nil range. No dedicated button.

Why do some people think this is a bad idea? It doesn't have to be 5 damage, it could be 30. It doesn't have to be used, just optional. If idiots would get angry about another line to read in the directions on how to stab somebody, then they should go back to school. SERIOUSLY guys, there is NOTHING WRONG with this. It's a splendid idea, especially the one about the equipable knife.
Melee weapons could be used in a number of difficult situations. If you're in a crouch tunnel, and suddenly you find yourself inches away from someone, the first to whip out their knife gets to hack away at the opponent. It doesn't have to be overpowered, either. And it doesn't have to have a full slash animation that could, to the concerns of many, create lag. I wouldn't be sad if it was an intricate, 10-frame arm movement, and I still wouldn't be unhappy if it was just a second frame of an arm sticking out.
To sum it all up, the possibility of adding a melee function is NOT negative. There is nothing bad about and plenty good about it. If you have a GOOD reason to believe it sucks, then by all means, tell it to the few people browsing this forum at a time.
I vote melee as an acceptable addition to Pawn.

I would have to agree on the melee suggestion, even though this thread is posted in the wrong section... *looks away*
Anyways, at many times I find myself right next to an enemy, mirroring his/her movements, and the guns are too long to hit them. Therefore, an optional melee button would easily solve said problem.

When you overlap somebody, all you have to do is jump quickly to the side and shoot at their head. Well thats what we eperienced players do... and you need quick reflexes when you suddenly overlap somebody right? why take the chance of getting shot my flipping through your weapons trying to find the knife? and the knife only does 30 damage? Every gun has enough damage to kill somebody with two good shots to the head, and if your THAT close to somebody, how CAN you MISS?

Why want a melee button only good for games that arent 2d and if so it should be a close button to fire or jump like alt or pressing the m-wheel
