Maybe they are trying to get to their homes? Maybe they need to get to work? Maybe they need to get somewhere and that road is the only road to take?

Don't really find it funny seeing as they had very little control of their car seeing as they slided down the road sideways. Those roads just look extremely dangerous wouldn't want to go through there anytime soon.
