It beats a 4870X2 and is right under the GTX295; it's as powerful as GTX260 SLI!

So ati will start with the high end cards and move toward the high medium range($150-175)? I'm planning to buy one of those cards, not the flagship elite.
Anyway, nvidia's response is right around the corner, I'm betting.

Oh I've already started saving :)
And looking at the statistics, its pretty power efficient so it wont take a monster to power it.

So ATI's next gen doesn't even beat NVIDIA's current?

The single core next gen beats the dual core GTX 295 in several games in benchmarking tests.

And crap, guess what? It's only 400 bucks compared to the gtx 295's 500 dollar price tag.

The 5870X2 will completely destroy it.
5870X2 will probably even beat GTX295 Quad-SLI since Quad-SLI is horrible.
5870 Quad-fire destroys everything.
Also I'm getting Crossfire 5850s when they come out, 5870s bit too expensive.

yeah i was thinking about the 5850s to since they perform almost as well as the 5870
and you're right, the X2s will just destroy everything

Official drivers for the 5870 aren't out yet either.
Yes, the card arriving earlier then expected and everything is on schedule. One problem...no dx11 games and our quad cores running are on serial games and being useless. :(

Does anyone know what the physical size of the 5850 is?

5870 = 11in.
5870X2 = 13.5in

Why are you using a nonatx case?

Cuz I broke my old computer, and my dad offered to pay half on a new one, but he didn't want me building one because he thought Id screw it up, so I got this HP tower. It has a 9800 gt in it right now, which okay ftm, but once dx11 becomes popular, Im really going to need to upgrade.

No, well, not at first, let me remind you that dx11 games are not even out yet, and there are still only a handful of dx10 games.

Yeah but dx10 wasnt used much because it was buggy. dx11 is supposed to be like the next big one (from what I understand).

No, it's just a fact that developers tend to fail to take advantage of new technology, and that games take so long to actually develop from the 1st day to the finished product.

Well hopefully by the time dx11 games are the norm the cards will be smaller :)
