If you were to go to any of the branchs of the military which one whould you join? and why?

If anyone who says Marines actually knew a thing or two about it, they'd know it's actually a part of the Navy.

I chose Air Force. They teach the most skills that can be applied in the civilian world.

Or stay on the ground doing maintence. Or sit in a seat flying a UAV but still be on the ground. XD

I would join the Air Force, but only as a AC-130 gunner or something else that doesn't involve me actually flying the plane, but still having some kind of action.

Or I could join the Army because I hate heights, I can't swim, and I hate the ocean. But then again, you might have to get up close and personal with your trusty shovelz. O_O

I would never join the military ever. But if i had to join it would be the coast guard, they don't go overseas.

There are alot of national gaurd troops in Iraq now. At the end of 2007 28% of the guard were in Iraq or Afghanistan so they do get deployed.

The Australian Navy on a patrol ship in Australian waters, just like in Sea Patrol.
You just get to laze around alday, and every now and again you risk your life when some Mad dude with an axe is on an Island, its easy you just shoot him with a gun made in the 1930's.
Our Armed forces arent very well armed in terms of Handguns, they use the Browning HP, but cops get Glock22's?

I'm pretty sure I'm going into the military after High School. What I haven't decided yet is whether or not I want to fill a combat roll. If I decide on a combat roll then I'm going Marines, but I still don't know what kind of combat roll I would go for(paratrooper, tanker, infantry, etc).

If I decide on a non-combat roll, I'm joining the Army and being a firearms technician. It would be an interesting job. And the experience with it would help me get a similar job in the civilian market. I could also apply the skills to home life because I plan on owning a variety(if I can afford to) or firearms when I get older. This is all assuming Obongo isn't regulating weapons to the point that kitchen knives have to be under a certain length by the time I graduate.

i wouldnt mind going to war, its just the type of war that puts me off.

Gureilla warfare in iraq and afganistan is not what the UK and the US are good at. We're a high tech warfare type, we're good at effective and efficient combat with minimal casualties. But guerilla warfare is effective at destroying morale. Which is what it is doing currently.

So i would choose armoured infantry. (infantry attached to an armoured)
