Well a few months ago I used LimeWire to download my music and stuff...

But then a bad virus got into my computer, so I removed it...

And today I was thinking is FrostWire safe, or safer then limewire?

Also, if every night I run a scan, even if there was a virus on my comp, that would detect it, and therefore I wold have nothing to worry about?

And, if any of you have any suggestions of decent programs like FrostWire please post link.

Ok I am no Tech Guru Guy of ninja...

But.... FrostWire>LimeWire.

But most people will suggest you get the FireFox add on that allows you to extract music from YouTube videos. Safer. Faster (Maybe), Smarter.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8189

Use that.

Frostwire is better in my experiences, I used Limewire for a while, heard about frostwire, and switched.

Frostwires P2P sharing system is better than Limewires, Limewires servers don't check for the viruses like Frostwire does, with Frostwire, I guarentee you will get slim / none viruses.

But remember; Limewire and Frostwire ARE infact illegal, if you take your computer in to be looked at, and some tech guy finds it on their, he is required by Law to turn you in, and your gonna be fined like $120...

The reason things like Utorrent aren't considered illegal, is because there "Sharing" files, instead of distributing them.

That's not true, you can get viruses from BOTH, but it appears to me that FrostWire is safer...

Like I said, it's possible to get viruses.

My suggestion (this is what I do);

Scan your Frostwire removeable media (all files that are not implemented into the program) every few days.

If you have a virus in any of the files, scan your whole PC, and see if you have anymore, and delete them all.

;)

Hope I helped somewhat.

other way round,
frostwire = more viruses

plus you can tell if they're viruses because of their tiny size type compared to music or video

^^Fail.

Frostwire is safer dude.

I've had them both, and have gotten like 100x more viruses from Limewire.

Frostwire fails, to me. Idk it's just to slow and does not have updated music.

Better yet, use BitTorrent.

Oh, and for the record,

LIMEWIRE AND FROSTWIRE ARE NOT ILLEGAL. HAVING THE PROGRAM ON YOUR COMPUTER IS NOT ILLEGAL. WHAT YOU GET BY USING THE PROGRAM, CAN BE ILLEGAL.

If you don't believe me, then why are the companies still in business?

Having an anti-virus does, by no means, guarantee your computers protection. It certainly will help, but you will never - never - be completely protected.

Using Peer-To-Peer software like Limewire, Frostwire, uTorrent, etc. comes at a considerable risk. Legitimate things that you download might come with some infected code.

For example, Windows 7 was available on Torrents before it's release. People downloaded it, and they installed it fine. I repeat, they downloaded what they thought was Windows 7, it installed, and it ran like Windows 7 should. And they did in fact download Windows 7 - except there was an extra file that turned the machine into a botnet.

It's your choice. I can guarantee you you will get viruses - anyone who says they've never gotten one in x amount of years is lying, or there is malware on their computer they don't know about.

;)

...
Limewire = Peer to Peer = Sharing
Frostwire = Peer to Peer = Sharing
uTorrent = Peer to Peer = Sharing

NONE of the above are illegal. In fact, torrents are used for many legal purposes. I believe Blizzard releases game patches via torrents because it reduces the pressure on their servers and saves them bandwidth. What you do on these programs, i.e. download music illegally, download warez, etc. is what it's illegal. And if you're caught, the RIAA will hit you with a lot more than $120.

See my above example of Windows 7. A lot of times you'll download, for example, an MP3 file - everything about this seems like a safe file - it isn't a porn video in disguise, it isn't some random thing - it's the song you want. However, it could still be malicious.

Frostwire isn't illegal and neither is limewire

Its a file-sharing network, which is not illegal

EDIT: Oh uh..didn't see your post atirox

If you really have to use limewire or frostwire than use frostwire.

Torrents are better anyways

I downloaded it a few years ago. It's the same thing except with a snowflake instead of a lime.

Well after downloading FrostWire my first file had a virus or something bad.

So I sorted it all out and I think I'm going to go with Parma's suggestion.
