Are you sure it locks up?
Installing OS's can take up to several hours.
Not Windows 7. It took me about twenty minutes, and I ran the set up from my desktop, which means it's even slower. I don't know what method Luka used, but running it from the desktop is the slowest - all the other methods are faster. (DVD, USB, mounting it to a VCD, etc.)
Luka, are you sure it's locking up? The completing installation portion was the longest part of the install for me.

DVD.
When it gets there, it runs fine for a bit, then the animated dotted line stops moving, and my mouse does not move.
I waited about 10-20 minutes, and it did not work
I'm going to re-try with a DVD i'll write at 2x speed, and verify the files (not 24x) and leave it for two hours, it might just be counting sheep

Try a different method.
Extract the ISO and run Setup.exe from within Vista.

Yeah. It's how I installed my copy of Windows 7.
There are other methods as well:
1) You can mount it to a flash drive and boot the ISO off that.
2) You can mount it in a virtual drive from your desktop using something like Virtual CloneDrive. This basically replicates a DVD drive, except virtually, so there is no need to burn it physically to a DVD.
I'd go with just extracting it and running set up. Be sure to disable your antivirus prior to running it.
EDIT: No, extract as in extract it like you would a .zip or .rar file. Use WinRAR, WinZip, 7-Zip, etc.

Running from windows should allow me to install it on a seperate partition still, right?
Nevermind that, I'm installing 7 right now, i'll tell you if it works out
I'll wait 2 hours if it locks up
Fck, its locked up on me again(posting from lappy)
