Just thought I would have a bash at this sort of thing.

But the quality is bad.
Try not to show your effect c4d's so much.
And perhaps lighten the Focal to make it stand out.
It would also look better in something smaller than that.
Also, get rid of the white line on the left hand side. It shows you can't see what you are doing :D
Try adding some more to the left.
So it doesn't look empty. It seems like you added an effect c4d with a render and changed the opacity of things.

Rofl, do you even know what you're talking about? All you've done is basically used pretty much what everyone said about yours and said it to me, so it looks like you know what you're talking about.

EDIT: The line on the left hand side wasn't on whilst I was making, it was the rubbish tinypic that did it.

It's a good start, at your level I suggest just looking around at
other tags or LP's or w/e and get familiar with everything.

Make sure you choose a good stock/render!!

I think the low quality is down to one of the C4Ds that I added, not the stock.

Because the stock was HQ.

So, it's an okay start, for a first?

Yes. In a tag that would look good.
With the right effects.
It would look very good :D
But it's good for a first like that :)
