Common Problems:

Before beginning to discuss common problems found, the file structure of the folder where the map editor is located should be similar to the following (-> means inside root folder. + means a folder. - means a file):

+PTmapEditor Folder
-> +maps
-> -> -Firefight.ptm
-> -> -Grimsby.ptm
-> -> -Metalworks.ptm
-> -> -Propaganda.ptm
-> -> -The Hexagon.ptm
-> -> -The Pyramid.ptm
-> -> -Trenches.ptm
-> -changelog.txt
-> -field.ptx
-> -PTME2.jar

(This is slightly confusing, so in order to help those that don't understand, look at this screenie (link) (http://i41.tinypic.com/5ewuh0.jpg))

Common Errors:

-- When trying to start a new map, you get this error:
"field.ptx(The system cannot find the file specified)"

This error is caused when the field.ptx (look at file structure/screenie above) is not in the same folder as PTME2.jar To fix this issue, either redownload field.ptx or move field.ptx into the same folder as PTME2.jar

-- You have no tileset

Similar to the above, you need to re-import field.ptx into the map editor. There are a few reasons for this error:

1.) You may have deleted field.ptx from the tileset manager and/or field.ptx was somehow deleted as a tileset. To fix this, go to Tilesets > Import Tileset > field.ptx (find the file wherever you may have saved it).

2.) You don't have field.ptx, in which follow the steps in the previous error to get field.ptx back.

--The PTME2.jar doesn't open the map editor

In order to open the map editor you must have java installed.

--When I double-click PTME2.jar it opens a folder.

You need to download the latest java. Get the latest one here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

*If you need help using the map editor, refer to Knux57's guide located here: Guide (http://www.pawngame.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110428)
**If anyone has any other errors/fixes please tell me :D

I've been meaning to ask somebody.
What is the file that you import in order to get the tiles?
I randomly clicked something and got the right files, but I've had a few people ask me.
In Blank's post on introducing the Map Editor he forgot to mention the file you import to get the tiles.

You have to click the Java program, not the field.ptx
Don't mess with it, like moving, deleting etc.
Its the tileset of PT. And its common for people with this problem, I think you should re-download, or find field.ptx (unless moved)

Yeah, like Paulcow's video, you click the Java program, NOT the field.ptx.

To get the code for a map. Just save the map in the editor (File > Save).
Go to the folder where you saved the map. Right Click the map > Open with Notepad.

Copy and paste the code that will be shown, and there you go.

You know, im guessing most problems with running this are because people have the file associated with the wrong program (it doesn't run it java style, more like winzip, 7zip, archive, etc style)
