PT Official Map Editor

Installation: Extract the whole zip file using winzip or similar. Once extracted run the file called PTME2.jar and viola you are in the map editor.

**Note: You will need the newest version of java from www.java.com.

To test your maps you can use the "Test Map" link at the bottom of http://www.pawngame.com/pawntactics/ and paste your map code (Found in the .ptm files).

Go to notepad or wordpad. Then you go to open...
Then you hit "all files" somewhere on the screen.
And you find the name of ur map that u saved.

On a mac, specifically the iMac mid 2007 version, when i try to open this file with jar expander it says there is an error in the file. I've googled how to open java files and everything but i cant find anything!!!!!!!

It's placed inside the tiles already. Snow tiles.

When you open up the map editor you'll see up top where it says Tilesets.
I think that if you click on that and find that click on it and go down to Import Tileset, a box will open up.
It's asking you for the file name you want to find.
I think it's called field.ptx
If that doesn't work PM Knux57 and ask him for help.

To get the code go to "start" -> "all programs" -> "accesoires" -> "wordpad" or "notepad" -> "file" -> "open" -> "all files" (select at the bottom right corner)->
select the file you want (your map)-> "open" -> copy and paste into this link

Idk if this is a place for suggestions for the map editor or just commenting but if it is i have some...
1. make a feature on terrain pallate for custom sizes... such as instead of having 1x1 tiles all the time u can siwtch 1x1 to 2x2 of the same tile, would make mapping alot easyer.
2. make a minimap in top right or left corner for easyer click on mini map navigation, much faster+its easyer then always moving your slide bars left and right.
3. when u click on a tile make sure to preveiw it on the map so you can tell what its at when u rotate, many unessicary cntrl+z's i have done over this...
thats just some basic thoughts there iv noticed il have more later as i use it more often...

The .ptm is the file you save the map in.

When you open a word document and then open the .ptm file, you get a long code. Just post that code in the link Flippy provided.

Make sure that its only the code, you didnt alter it or anythign on accident and you copied it all.

That happened to me for a while, but eventually it went away. Donno how, or why, but whatever.
