Well I was watching TV and this commercial came on for this Easy Rock CD. And it was like high pitched singing with like pianos and crap. So I was like "that's not Rock". Then I thought of making this. Yeah it's kinda like LooZ's thread on Art, mainly cause I am gonna set it up the same.
So what is your point view on Rock? Mine is that, if it doesn't have guitars and drums then it aint Rock.
Point Of Views
CaptainPlanet69: If there is an actual band involeded, and its not just some stupid studio mix or acoustic crap, then its rock.
Darkshi3ld: Sex, drugs, money
DaMan: If it doesn't have guitars and drums then it aint Rock.
Dax5: Rock=Band, "complicated" soundtrack, usually, but not always, with a lead singer.
Gutsyguy: Rock, is undefinable.
Hamo3: If they sing like the beatles it is not rock. If they sing like acdc or wolfmother or pink floyd or sky hooks and so on.....Its rock. Rock is just stuff you air guitar to lol.
LooZr66: Really nice beat from drums and guitars, but then just yeling in the background.
Quantince: Rock - Anything louder than pop.
Strelok12: Bass,Guitar and Drums,deep pitched voices = Rock
ureonmyhitlist: Rock for me is something that has a kick arse guitar solo.
Rock=Band, "complicated" soundtrack, usually, but not always, with a lead singer.

Some rock bands use pianos for back round music.
I'v heard some rock bands with a piano in it for a short time.
But yeah, a rock band needs guitars to be a rock band. :)

It was like either just a piano or just an acoustic guitar. It was just real fruity.
You want me to put that last line as your 'POV' or like what?

There was no Elton John on this CD.
I remember one of the songs the band was 'The Doobie Brothers'. You can tell just by the name of the band that the songs are fruity as hell.

Technically metal does come from rock, but they are different enough to be considered two different genres.

"Soft rock" does have the word "Rock" in it..........
But, to me metal sounds like rap, you can't hardly understand it.

I would disagree. Metal did come from rock, but I think it is fair to say that it has evolved enough to be considered a separate genre. Rock evolved from blues. I wouldn't consider rock to equal blues, though.
