Well, the GFX section in pawngame isn't top notch, but we make up for it by having amazing everything else, and the forums are fairly active, and MOST of us aren't stuck up, but if you're interested in knowing the forums, you have to know the forums are like 4chan. Switch to a new section and you have a radically different group. Me? I'm proficient at all sections, but here it is.

The GFX section is a bunch of elitist pros and wannbes. Here we take skills only, and tutorials + sigs run rampant. This is the fastest moving section and if you are quick with GFX you can make fast posts here.

The Clan section is a David VS Goliath type thing; unlike other sections, the newb clans build up and take over as the new "best" clan, until a newer clan slowly builds up. It's an up and down motion, and it happens constantly. Clans get big, hit climax, and die down about twice as fast.

The screenshot section is split up into two groups. SS trolls who are a bunch of attentionwhores who must be acknowledged on how they "pwn" another player, and it's a 50/50 shot. Either the guy is "good" or "bad" and if it's bad they tell him to improve. This cycle goes on for days, then there are the edit trolls who like posting bad edits of them being mod, or an epic screenshot... it's really lame.

The help section is pretty basic, but watch out for suckups. They will valiantly white knight the thread causing more flamewars then a simple bittersweet post ever could. Choose your words carefully here.

The gaming section is one of my home threads, it's where all Pawngame's biggest discussion is found. Have you ever wondered how long a 360 vs PS3 debate can last? 1.5 years. It's still going strong. If you are a gamer you will find the posts move fairly quickly and smaller debates will rise and fall, making it one of the more fun. The community here is helpful, but competitive, as all gaming is.

Tech Discussion is the most quick moving threads for debate. Hardware, software, and firmware discussions run rampant, but like chaos theory, there is some calm to it. The threads move something like this.
1: Guy needs help/wants opinion on something
2: Skilled person helps/gives opinion.
3: Another skilled person gives different advice/opinion
4: Newbies with less opinion come in.
5: First + second guy lead battles to win the debate.
6: Battle won. Go back to step 1 and collect $200.
This is my home section, and you will find it is not the most active unless a debate springs up. Watch out here though, there is a lot of passion.

The flash section is never about flash. It is almost always pivots. It's a very reclusive group and you will find yourself right at home if you even consider animation, it is the easiest group to be accepted in, and there's ALWAYS room to improve, so it's a more permanant thing.

The Pawn Discussion is ruled by PAs, beta players, and high rankers. They sit on their high thrones eagerly taking down any thread. Since i'm 2 of the three, I am obliged to participate in flame wars(possibly because i'm a troll?), so take sides quick. You will find the higher posters don't make much threads here, they only join threads. Not fast moving at all.

Suggestions is simply an anything goes. If it's good the thread will be loved by all until somebody takes it down. If it's bad it's taken down immediately. Ever since release 1.00 good threads are rare. Come here if you're in a bad mood.

Map Making is the most snobbish group around. If you are not totally 100% devoted to getting better, you will never move forward enough to suceed here. However, if you are active enough, and are in the MMT, you can find critiquing is a fun way to gain respect. Beware if you are not active, and not in the MMT, raters are often haters.

If you are one of the talented people, the usergroup thread is where you can relax. The threads are tranquil, and you can be more open, as people in usergroups have similiar opinions, and they are more in touch with the forums. Usergroupers don't really have to worry about saying something wrong, as if they do they will almost always have someone backing them up. Fact: Usergroupers often go to IRC. Fact: IRC users always call in /b/lackup. Fact: /b/lackup is a guaranteed way to keep a thread from failing.

Read over these notes, you might figure out what the forums are like, and getting around will be much easier.
