Photoshop vs Gimp

Hey, I was thinking about getting either photoshop or gimp and was wondering which is better? Please post your arguements.

And I have heard that the "free" versions of photoshop aren't actually photoshop or only a free trial. A conclusion please?

Gimp,it has more Good graphics then photo shop plus when i went to photo shop it made my Pc Go slow :(

PS is better for seasoned GFXers.

GIMP is easier to understand but it doesn't have all of the good filters that PS does.

There are free versions of the full thing. You just have to know who to ask <_<

i used gimp for a year and a couple of months. it will get where you need to be. easier to learn with. if your going to be around places like pawn then more people with have gimp and tuts for gimp.

ps is better. but harder to work and understand and if you dont buy it your stealing. and thats wrong.

And all in all this is what it comes down to? Get gimp untill i actually can do some good stuff and know what im doing then get photoshop? And just making sure the free versions of photoshop AREN'T illegal? correct? o.O


Also can I ask what downloading sites you guys use? I have just normal windows

If we tell you where we download them, we get infractions, it's called Warez.

Anyway, if you are some goody two shoes, disobey your morals and look for Photoshop.

Photoshop, has better filters, better functions and mechanics, and better plug-ins.
Gimp has very limited Gradient maps, no adjustment layers, and limited layer types. That's why gimp users who get photoshop feel extremely confused when they see photoshop.

Id say GIMP, it's free, simple, and just as good if you know how to use it. Ps is too overated these days. Price doesn't mean anything to me. So yeah i agree with splitz get GIMP.

I don't agree. Price dosn't mean anything. There are people that are way better on GIMP then people on photoshop. Just depends on the user. Brand and prices are nothing. you all should know that by now.
