Definitely Avast.

And AVG is a pain in the rear end if you ever plan on removing it. >.>

Also, is malwarebytes any good?

even thought AVG sucks, i still use it.

Even if you try and delete it from your computer, it still asks for you to update it even though its like gone. It drives me crazy. I have never tried Avast but i heard it was ok. AVG free edition 2008 FOR THE LOSS =(

Malware Bytes doesn't offer real time protection like Avast or AVG would, it's more of a complementary piece of software. But in answer to your question, yes - it's considered among the best in freeware.

And if you ever do become infected, odds are Malware Bytes would be able to remove it - even if your AV didn't pick it up.

Avast is the better of the two.

AVG is confusing at times.

why would you not just pay for an antivirus? I mean, that is the single most valuble piece of software on your computer. Why would you go cheap on it? To answer your question though, Avast! is better than AVG, hands down.

I myself am a torrent downloader and personally i hate avg free because it really sucks. now i do not by any means reccomend that you download torrents like crazy because some can and will have viruses. but i have found the torrent for the version of symantec that the Department of Defense for the United States gives out FOR FREE to its soldiers so that their computers can be protected and safe as well as their freedom. http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4622625/Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_11.0.4 so far it has been completely legit and i have had it for about a month. simply download it and run the setup file.

"Military Home Use Program. Your taxes paid to make sure the military families don't get viruses at home. Here ya go.
Just Install. No serial or crack needed. Will Update for at least 5 years."

"NO SERIAL OR CRACK NEEDED" just a lil note for the mods out there that i know are gonna bug me because i posted a torrent =_= there is no crack, no keygen, no nothing just the setup file and other files needed to set up symantec. as far as i know it is simply a torrent of the EXACT same thing symantec provides the us military with. A FREE SUBSCRIPTION :D so please.. dont ridicule me for the torrent because i made sure it's safe by putting my computer at "risk" w/e the hell the risk with downloading antivirus would be, idk.
