i have ethernet holes or internet holes or whatever they are called in my room, to plug my ethernet cord in. it says not connected to internet tho...but in my sisters room, it works...help! lolz. i wanna play xbox live in MY room....i hate having to go to my sisterz
Are you trying to run on a wireless modem?

maybe the plug in the wall isn't being sent a signal. like if the cable was disconnected or something.

That's your problem, you don't have a router. Check if your sister also runs on a router.

sounds like a faulty wire,port, or jack to me. i wouldnt really know because i dont live in your house xD. check to make sure that the "hole" in your wall is connected to something. if it isnt, then find a modem to connect it to. another alternative is getting another ethernet cable (most likely a long one since i'm guessing the modem is going to be a little far away) and just have a direct link from your modem to the computer. this is unless you have dialup which you would probably have to call your phone company and have someone over to fix your jack. still you could have an ethernet cord from another room to hook your computer up to. HOPE THIS HELPED :D

i re-read because i thought i missed something and you said XBOX (sorry i didnt see that before) same "rules" would apply. just exchange "computer" with "Xbox" sorry.

Do you have like a box that connects to all the computers. If so make sure the box is on and that it is near your computer since the same thing happens to me.
