Two weeks from today, the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers will face off for the Lombardi Trophy. No one in their right mind would have had Arizona in the Super Bowl with a 9-7 regular season record. They shut up their doubters with three really good wins in the NFC Playoffs, getting to their first Super Bowl in history. Vegas still has them as a 7 point dog. Vegas is usually very good in picking games. The Steelers were expected to be here, and they are, their 7th appearance in a Super Bowl and second in the last four years. Let's see the matchup:
Arizona Cardinals:
They have offense. No doubt about it. A three-headed monster in the receiving corps with Fitzgerald, Boldin, and Breaston. A Hall of Fame QB in Warner, and a rejuvenated running game with James and the rookie Hightower. Their defense has stepped up in the playoffs, shutting down three really good running teams.
Key to victory: O-Line
If their O-line can give Warner some time to scan the field, he can easily pick apart the Steelers D. They stepped up against the Blitz happy Eagles, and held them in check for most of the game. Can they repeat their performance on the biggest stage against the #1 Defense in the league?
Player to watch: Kurt Warner
Obviously, the QB is always the guy to watch, but Warner is a special case. Preseason talks had many Cardinal fans calling for Leinart to start the season. I guarantee that would have been a 7 win season at best for the Cards. If Warner gets hot early, it's gonna be a long day for the Steelers secondary.
Pittsburgh Steelers:
The #1 defense in the league has not faced an offense as dynamic as the Cardinals. They can pressure the QB like no other team though, just as Joe Flacco. They stuff the run and can cause turnovers at will. Roethlisberger has led the Steelers to a Super Bowl in just his second season as a starter. He rarely makes mistakes, and can manage a game like no other. Their running game is decent, and if Willie Parker can get going, there is no stopping him.
Key to Victory: Secondary
They must execute perfectly. A single mistake can turn a 8-yard completion into a 80-yard catch and run with this offense. If they have single-coverage, they better not get beaten, or this game can get out of hand quickly. They haven't faced a three-headed monster like Fitzgerald, Boldin, and Breaston, and I don't think they have the depth needed to cover them all.
Player to Watch: Troy Polamalu
A leader in the secondary. He will probably be used to help in covering Fitzgerald, so he will have to be at the top of his game. Fitzgerald has already broken Jerry Rice's record of yardage in the playoffs, so stopping him will be a tough task. He and whichever CB have the task of trying to slow him down will have their hands full all day.
My Pick: Arizona Cardinals
I have to admit to being a Cardinal fan. I became a fan mainly because of Larry Fitzgerald and when they drafted Matt Leinart. Being a USC Fan, I was glad Arizona picked up Leinart, but now I don't know how good he's gonna be <.<
Anyway...
I like the Cardinal offense to be able to throw the ball at will on February 1, throwing in the run when necessary. Their defense will play better than expected, and will hassle Roethlisberger, who has been under pressure all season long. I don't expect a blowout, because Pittsburgh is too good to get blown out, but it will be pretty high in scores. Fitzgerald should be named MVP, but I don't think he will get it if the Cardinals actually pull it off.
Final Score:
Arizona:27
Pittsburgh:24

Boldin didnt do anything last game. He wants out of Arizona, so I am gonna say Kurt is gonna go back to his old self and start throwing those INT's. Personally i don't like EITHER team, but Steelers win it 30-28

Yea but imagine if he does something.... and he did he scored one of the touchdowns on wildcard weekend.. and then got injured.. but if he does play well they will definitely win.

I think if Breaston gets open, then thats game. Boldin and Warner don't like each other. So the more that goes on, then the less we will be seeing Boldin.

You put 1 just ONE AFC team in their division and they would of been gone.

Since i am a NFC fan i would want the cardinals to win, but they don't leave us with much hope of over 50 years of not winning a super bowl (Second longest drought in sport history besides the Chicago Cubs). So i believe the Steelers will win since they won in the past years and have more experienced players on their team. So i am rooting for those Arizona Cardinals to win but my best guess is that Pittsburg will win the Super Bowl.

u guys just look at it as the Cardinals, plz look at each individual performance and how each player is feeling -.- ...Steelers have more experience and i have a feeling the Cardinals secondary are gonna slip up on a play action and end up watching Santonio Holmes burn them all. Check Holmes for yards after catch ;)

Their on fire BUT the secondary has been getting a little slower and hurting more as of late. If their defensive line and linebackers are 100% then it should be a challenge. Also big Ben has just about the same amount of exp as Kurt Warner. Kurt has a simple flaw that big Ben doesn't have. HE THROWS INTS! Kurt Warner stats for a game 400 yds, 3 TD's, 4INT's! those look good for fantasy football, but in a game if those INT's are returned thats game over.
