I did that on my test 'puter,

but then the harddrive overheated and died.

So I just sold the parts.

that was caused by a fan malfuntion (talking to CP now) Ubuntu is one of the best OS out there, very smooth very fast. NOT SLOW. its only slow when your booting off disk. CAUSE HELLO YOUR BOOTING A OS OFF OF A DISK (i used a dvd (vista only) and its running smooth for me ;) )

(currently installing Linux onto laptop (dual boot w/ Vista home premium)

Mine burned out because my damn fan broke without me realizing it.

It pissed me off.

Omni, it's slow because you're running a whole OS off a disk and you have to get code from the disk. Once you install it's smooth sailing.
